Hey sup all. It was actually a pretty nice turn out. Nice outside, other than the 5min rain. Ummm, some interesting cars of course. It was good to actually see the community grow and meet new people. And to see some of the crew from back in the day when we all met for the 1st time at Speedzone(all those guys). Nice turbo cars and some DAMN good food(I ate like 4 or 5times)
Anyways...If it were up to me, I say we have another rally/texas meet when the fall season comes around. So that way we can have one more meet before the year over. Oh well, it was fun and glad to see the forum is up again. All keep posting and moddin
I was the guy with the black 1997 200SX SE-R, with the gun metal wheels parked in the verrrrrrry front.

AOL is a POS FTP server - but some pics of this Weekend's Texas Rally

http://members.aol.com/bodyart27/TXRallyVIII

I must say I was impressed by the turn out. Over the course of the day as Nissan pilots came and went, I bet we had 30+ cars. I counted over 20 cars on three different occasions. The sign in sheet that I put out had 28 names, so I bet I still missed a few folks.

We had folks from Dallas / Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and even a trailed DET from New Orleans (that an easy 10 hour haul!). Big thanks to Vince McCurley and Throttle Position Motorsports for hosting the event, and serving up a ton of great Bar-B-Que and cold sodas.

I'm sure others will chime in with stories, but it was a great blend of old and new faces. Some former Rally members brought new rides (2 Subie WRXs, Honda, CLK). Some coudn't help crawling under a car and turning a wrench (Bruce Hearn), or pulling off a valve cover (Marc Hernadez).

Grover Pickering, George Roffe, Jim Fancher (and Marc Hernandez and Molly? as passengers) got to take the CLK55 out for some heavy right footed action - wheeee!

Though we hd overcast skies all day long, we all managed to get sunburn (it is a TX Rally tradition I guess). The day ended in a trip to the Chilis in Lewisville at 6:30 for drinks and dinner.

That's a quick recap - others feel free to jump in!

I had a lot of fun yesterday at the Rally. Thank you George for inviting me out and also thanks to Vince and the other TPM guys! I'm learning a lot from y'all. I am eagerly awaiting the next Rally. Did anyone get a pic of the RX7? A friend of mine wanted to see some if there are any.

Newbies. ;)

The first Texas Rally was actually 5 years ago next month and was held in Austin and the Texas SE-R list has been around for about 4 years or so.

It's really cool though that we got folks from this forum together with folks that are on the Texas SE-R Mailing List. It's a good group of folks we have. We need to keep folks that normally post here in touch with the folks who normally post on the Texas SE-R list.

We probably will. Traditionally we have one at least in the spring and fall. We just haven't had one in 2.5 years because 2 years ago we hosted the SE-R National Convention, and after that a bunch of the folks who usually put these things together were burned out.

We don't have to wait for me to put a rally together. I would love for someone else to organize one. We should shoot for October and it should be someplace other than Dallas. It will take some work to find a place though. We have had a couple of shops in Austin that have hosted us, but neither is in business anymore. We could try Houston or San Antonio as well.

Indeed it was a blast. Riding in some of those cars gave me an idea as to what I'll do(and not do;) ) to my car. It was a great learning tool also. I'll be getting me an '91 intake cam and installing myself in a couple of weeks. And hopefully I'll have my tire-rubbing problem solved after I get the 4-wheel alignment done.:D Hope to have another REAL soon!

Jody, Jose and I ran into a guy while at the drag races last weekend that owns a shop called Maximum Velocity in Northwest SA. Had a very clean B13 with a BB DET swap, possibly clean enough to even challenge our own Shell Black's ultra clean B13. Any interestin having a Rally or get-together in SA? It might be a little difficult because the guy isn't open on the weekends but I would be willing to try if you'll are interested.

I'd be willing to drive out to SA if I'm not doing anything else.

I might just be willing to drive down to San Antonio... I need to get my PS2 back from a friend anyways. Does anyone know of a cheap/clean motel down there? I might make a vacation out this lil trip...

I just got off the phone with Tim @ Maximum Velocity and he said he would be more than willing to host a rally. he said he would check his calender and give me a date. I will post the date and time when it becomes available.
Anyone want to do anything special for the rally?

I have a buddy who lives in San Antonio. i used to go there all the time. there are some great clubs and a great mall there. there is also Retema park, the horse races, right outside of the city. i think there is also a track in SA.
