I removed the pinstripe but theres a film of glue left over. What can I use to remove it? Some sort of GoofOff thats paint safe?

Goo-B-Gone works great. Just a little bit of elbow grease.

Or you can go to a local parts store that carries 3M products. They make a pinstripe removal tool that goes on a standard size drill shank. They work great, but you may have a tough time finding one.

Goof Off will work just fine. I did my old car with 3M liquid rubbing compound and a rotary.

Goof Off, cooking oil, amoniated aerosol glass cleaner, any of those should work.

3M adhesive remover works great. I used it when I debadged my Maxima. It's about $10 for a bottle at checker, Auto Zone, or Pep Boys.

I used Goo-Gone that I picked up from Wal-Mart for like 4 bucks. It worked pretty good. I did it on a nice hot day where I figured the adhesive would be very sticky, spray the goo-gone on, let it sit, then hit it with a rag. Took a little while but looked good after all was said and done.

Bodyshops actually have an eraser for that. Like a big pencil eraser. Go to a paint supply store and ask for one.

Acetone but you will have to wax after

WD-40 can also be used.

I was thinking about that, just wasnt to sure how it would react of the paint. My care has been "Ming" treated and theres a little sticker on the window that says Do Not Wax... so im scurred.

Paint thinner will work as well, ive used it many times. But it does dull the spot where the stripe was. So you will have to polish/was afterwards.

Paint Thinner??

No shit.. LOL Thins out the paint maybe???

Definietly DONT use paint thinner. start with Isopropyl Alcohol, maybe even denatured alcohol....see if those work first. If not try the goo gone stuff. Alot of people say it works good.

Basically, if youre going to experiment; start with the least harshest product....
try the rubber eraser, then alcohol, then goo gone/wd-40, etc

Paint thinner is definitely at the end of the list

Use clay bar after you've gotten all the visible stuff off. Don't be surprised if the paint under it is a different color. Most cars have sun fade.

This should do the trick.

Just use goo-gone. I think it is the safest for painted surfaces. I would still wax it after though. I used it after I debadged my srt-4 a couple of years ago.

paint thinner thins wet, unsprayed paint. It is perfectly safe to use on a hardend clear coat, moderately. I have done this many times with no bad results. have you?
