I bought a few gauges for my NX yesterday and bought an electrical oil temperature gauge. A few of my friends said that a mechanical gauge is better because it's more accurate.

Is this true?

From what I've heard, the mechanical is more accurate, but more prone to leak. You see, you have some nylon tubing that goes from the engine to the gauge, and oil goes through there.

I just dont like the idea of having the oil inside the car.

How does it work when it's electrical? Does the probe send a signal??

The electrical one just uses a wire from the gauge to the sender which you screw into the block. No need to worry about oil ending up in your car.
