Will a B14 ECU work on a completely stock SR20DET? tuned via SAFC on a dyno? t

thanks.

yes, but get it dyno tuned. To get it running right use Charlies setup:

Do this if your at stock boost: I walk you through this, my first set of instructions are very conservative also make sure you have no vacuum leaks, every thing need to be in perfect running order, if you need to re-ground your MAF now is the time to do so.

0)Make sure your SAFC intial set-up is correct
a) 4cly arrow pointed upward
b) Hot wire 6IN and 6OUT
c) Ne points 1,000 - 8,000
d) Throttle percentage Low 35% HIGH 45%
Make sure at this point you have NOT made any fuel adjustment.

1) Check for ECU trouble coes even if there not present on the dash.
2) Diconnect your battery for 30min regaurdless if there was/or not the ECU trouble codes.
3) Reconnect battery.
4) Start your car, don't not touch the gas pedal for a about 3 minutes.
5) Go to the "Low Settings" and take away -15% all the *** accross the board from 1,000rpm to 8,000rpm.
Note is you try and blip the throttle past 40-50% the ECU goes into open loop and you will experince a fuel cut because you "High Settings" are way to rich.
6) Go to the "High Setting" and take away -15% at 1,000rpm and 2,000rpm, for 3,000rpm take away -13% and from 4,000rpm - 8000rpm take away -10% accross the board.

This should get your car idling pretty smooth and very drivable although still very much on the rich side of things.

Actually, I do not own this car, but will be pretty soon, but I wanted to see if I need to get a different ecu as I start modding the car. My plan is to install bigger injectors to support a disco potatoe, I don't know if the SAFC will be sufficient to support over 550cc of fuel (is there any chart for global setting and dead time specifically for certain size inejctors for the sr20det?). I will be street tuning using my exisiting aem wideband and a datalogger to keep my timing and knock in check. Would I need to get JWT's custom ECU to do this and still have flexibility in tuning to what ever needed? For example, having the option of tuning for water injection and what not. Lastly, the previous owner said that he did get it dynoed tuned with SAFC and he stated that he was kinda running rich to be on safe side anyway.

thanks

bump...
can I use the stock U12 ECU with a B15 tranny and tune it via SAFC that way? Would that be better?
thanks

u12 ecu will require an obd-2=1 adapter from craig...

I wonder if i can still use the the B14 ECU and get by with SAFC....I mean, can't i just adjust the global setting along with getting an adjustable fpr? btw, I will transfer my AEM Uego wideband from my srt-4 to this car along with an OBD2 scan gauge (mainly to monitor knock and timing) and lastly a pyrometer from my MX6 GT. Again, I will also be swaping my water injection kit from the srt-4 to this car as well.

or...will this all not work to get a nice street tune where i the idle won't be humping up and down, and requires me to just shut up and get the JWT ECU for a baseline and tune it from there?

thanks

u will still have to tune it on a dyno or highway..the idle drama is more attributed to aacv/boost leaks--i would use the afc and see how it turns out..the afc monitors knock..try getting a consult from calum

yes, that's the question, wouldi be able to tune it with a SR20DE or JWT ECU....in other words which one is the better baseline. That's why i will be swapping my wideband to the sentra, for street tuning action:D eitherway i guess i will just find out for myself and see what i can do with just B14 DE ECU.

thanks

YES......the safc on a b14 ecu will work fine but you can't go any bigger then the stock turbo injectors (370cc) I made 260whp in my b14 this way. If you want bigger injectors get an emanage or jwt ecu(I have had two jwt ecus and both sucked......but it is a good base line to tune from with an safc). good luck and just fyi you could have found all this with a search.

the jwt might make it easier as it did on my ve with an afc1...im running my stock ecu with the msd #50 and an afc2---got it tuned perfect till 4k..then i ran out of gas:(

I'd start with the JWT ecu and tweak it from there if you feel the need. I think it runs just fine as do the 30 something people that have driven my car. Anyways, the main thing with the stock DE ecu is that the timing maps will be too aggressive for a turbo car. So by getting the JWT tune, the timing maps will be where they should be and tweaking it with a SAFC won't mess up the timing much.

so how would you guys compare emanage with B14 ECU and jwt ecu by itself? As I understand it, with emanage you can adjust the timing right?
