Well we drilled and tapped the block this weekend. Blocked up the hole and made sure everything was good to go. So I pull the car out of the garage this evening and I see a puddle of oil! Come to find outI must of overtightened the oil pan, if you are looking directly at the oil pan from directly under the car(sliding under from the front) the front right bolt is leaking. I have to take it off and re ****** everything to spec again. This was not a good move so the car will be sitting all week waiting for more stuff to come in! My EGR valve is clogged also so that needs to be cleaned out(any suggestions???). Need a downpipe that is 2.5" to a 3" cat or test pipe(any suggestions???). All in all the car will be ready for the turbo hopefully very soon. Please everyone that just hit 60k or around there, check your motor mounts if they have not already been replaced. My MM are very bad on the crossmember. I took the front rubber piece out by barely pushing it! ES is getting my business tomorrow. But all in all we made it through 10 hours of the process of taking apart and drilling and putting it back together. Thanks to Art for helping out with everything and to Jay Hassinger for coming in at the nick of time to drill the final 2mm of the block. Well we have Art's Block to do next weekend hopefully with my clutch job being done right beside him! Hopefully CT will have some Turbo Sr20's soon! Thanks again everyone and if you have any suggestions to the questions above please post, I would greatly appreciate peoples opinions! Have a good one everybody!

Hey, you guys didn't tell me about that :( . Well I'm glad you did your block Mark, but I hope you get that leak fixed. Ok, since you are doing Arts block next weekend, can I come over too so that my block can be done? Or maybe you need the whole weekend for that? I didn't know it would take so long to drill and tap a block though (I think you said 10 hours) but if it does, I know I can be there all day friday, and early on saterday. Please let me know, I'd rather drill and tap the block with guys that have experience. Thanks a lot.

We used a VERY dull drill bit, that's why it took so long.

People kept stopping by so we did bullshit for quite a while and also throw in there about 2 hours of driving around. Actual work time was less than 10 hours.

I'll be getting another bit for my drill to speed things up. I believe we can do do it in 2 hours including removing everything needed. We removed a few too many things since we were going to accomplish more.

First priority is getting a new drill bit, until then no tapping.
Also we used Jay Hass techinque of using grease to catch the bits from the tap, only dropping the lower oil pan, we then ran 4 quarts of oil through the new hole to remove any residue again and then threw in new oil.

Mark did not have a inch pounds torque wrench, so we got a leak after throwing the oil pan back up.

You are running the T28 correct? I posted this weekend about the an HKS Pulsar GTiR Downpipe that I ordered. I should recieve it sometime this week once I get it in! It may be what you are looking for!

Hey Domiguy,
I got your message later that night after we did it. It does take a long time to get everything done. For these next few weekends there are a few things going on in the shop(my uncle uses it to work on his cars) and I have to put the turbo in. We will figure out a date when it will be better for us to do it.

Louis,
Please tell me about the downpipe and if it needs modifications to fit a B14 when you receive it. I am very interested in getting a downpipe and exhaust soon and I started shopping around. If HKS makes one I am sure it is of high quality. Keep me informed, thanks! I have to get a hold of you about oil and water lines also.

Everyone in the northeast area should come to the CT meet on May 18th. Hope to see everyone there. I will keep you all updated on the install and I am sure there will be questions that I have for everyone! Have a good one!

OK Marc, I'll try to give you a call later to try to set something up. I am definately going to the meet on May 18th, and I was hoping to have my turbo installed by then, but it seems like it won't be :( .. oh well, maybe you'll give me a ride in your turbo car and/or let me drive :D ... well good luck again.

Jose...

Can you comment more on this technique? TIA

Well this technique has a lot of skill involved!!!:D You put grease on the tap and keep applying it as you do each 1/2 turn. It makes life a lot easier when you do this because the shavings end up on the tap and all you have to do is clean them off! Have a good one!

Exactly what Mark said.

You also want to run some sort of fluid to flush out any bits that might have snuck in there. You can use the oil you just drained, but better would be a solution of brake fluid and oil. Basically something non harmful to flush through... maybe the STP engine flush if you want to spend $8 to to just throw it away.

Although a bit more contraversial, this method saves you dropping the upper oil pan.
