I am going to have to replace the right inner cv boot, its torn. I have a few questions before I get into this:1) What is the socket size I need for the front hub assembly (it is large and I will have to buy a special socket for it). 2) Any advice before I start into this, I have read the Haynes manual and it seems pretty straight forwad with alot of grunting involved. The Haynes manual does say that upon reassembly that I should remove the support bearing and reassemble the axle on a bench, is this really necessary?
Thanks in advance.

The axle nut is 32mm......if i remember correctly. You can rent them from Autozone i heard.

You can buy a rebuilt axle from Napa and save yourself a lot of the technical work. Mine were about $60 each and it will cut your work time by 1/3.

I would recommend replacing the axle like sernut said. I got one for $70 from CarQuest. It has a lifetime warranty including inner and outter boots. If they ever fail, I just take the axle to them and they hand me another one.
Not bad for $70 and a few hours labor on my part.
