: SE-R street beast
needles 04-22-2002, 04:39 PM Ok I am so tired of seeing theses little bitches running around in thier civics with just intake and exhaust thinking they are bad. I am also tired of the punks who drive around in their pusstangs and slowmaros thinking they can beat every 4 cyl. on the planet. After doing alot of research I have decided that a 95-98 200SX SE-R is a very good car that is already ahead of most other sport compacts in performance and handling. This summer i plan and spendnig most of my money modifying one. What I want to know is what are the best parts for the car. I plan on going with a T-66 Greddy turbo on a custom exhaust manifold that a buddy of mine said he could do for me, what i need to know is where i can get the internals from and who makes the best. Any and all information will be much appreciated, thnx.
eric96ser 04-22-2002, 04:43 PM How are you going to get a T66 to fit? Supras use those turbos, and they take a long time to spool. I guess if you relocate the radiator, and run with no hood, it should fit. You'll need a 75 shot to get off the line though.
needles 04-22-2002, 05:00 PM that is what we are tryin to figure out. The sole porpose of building a 200SX is that they are taken so lightly around here. Plus I hear kids who dog on em and I want to shut them all up. Im tryin to see what im going to do about it, thats why i need help to get this shit goin. I plan on tryin to have the fastest street legal 4cyl. in the chicagoland area and do it with a 200. So i need some input from u guys since most of u have been into them for quite some time and have picked up alot more information.
Storm88000 04-22-2002, 05:13 PM Check it, leave out the 98.
You should have said the 95-97 is a very good car :)
200sx-97-SE-R 04-22-2002, 06:50 PM how much hp do you want?
how fast do you want to run the 1/4 mile?
how much money do you have?
answer these questions and we could probably give you a better description of what you would need.
Stiletto 04-22-2002, 07:45 PM just get a FMAX Stage II kit and call it a day.
needles 04-22-2002, 11:33 PM Im lookin to get at least 400hp out of it and run at least mid 11's and ive got about $8,000 in the bank, plus if i need to i will take out a loan, I know for sure that in gonna put enkei RSF-2's on it and i already have a pair of Recaros in my basement, plus i got the system from my DD i can take out, and my uncle is Gary Rizza and i think they have a Nissan dealership so if they do i might be able to get nissan performance parts for cheaper. Thnx
MaddMatt 04-23-2002, 12:45 AM I don't know about turboing a car or drag racing for that matter so I'll leave that to the other guys. Just whatever you do, remember that weight is your enemy. Don't put in a boomin system with two 16" subs. Forget the 18" bling bling wheels. Remove as much unessesay crap as possible. Do you really need that rear seat? How about the A/C? The sound deadening tar crap can sure go. Wanna get really serious in the weight removal? Replace the windows with lexan, and remove the sunroof if so equipt.
Lyn Labahn 04-23-2002, 01:00 AM Post your question in the Turbo Forum, you will get a lot of answers there. With building the bottom end, you could see over 450 WHP, without too much fan fare. And trust me, 450WHP is way overkill if you are gonna be on the street.
Cjburn 04-23-2002, 01:34 AM Greddy makes a T67, T66 I'm pretty sure is a Turbonetics turbo. The T67 makes full boost (15 lbs) by 4K in first gear in an MR2. Which is pretty damn good considering it's rated for 850 CFM and we're talking about 1st gear where the motor is getting that much of a load put upon it. It's too bad because the Silvia gets the T67 kit from Greddy and the RNN14 does not get 1 kit from them. These kits include a Type R wastegate with external dump, stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold, downpipe, T67 turbo, stainless feed and return lines for the oil, braces, and probably more, I've forgotten.
jbanach77 04-23-2002, 12:18 PM i made 424whp on a street car, and yeah it is alot to handle on the streets, but i went even crazier after that too. but for 8k, i couldn't do it i know that. but then again i went out of the loop and did alot of things that aren't readily available like from jwt for example. as far as a t66 fitting into a b14, GOOD LUCK, been there tried that. i know dre did a t78 on his drag car but i know he did some modifications for it to fit.

DubuRX 04-24-2002, 07:23 AM I'm in the process of spending $8K on my turbo setup and that's not even opening the engine other than cams and clutch. I'm making it purely for street, but can push over 400hp if I upgrade the turbo.
The only way you're going to get a T66/67 to fit is if you get a FMAX stage 4 manifold, where it runs to the driver's side, by where the battery is. And you're talking LAG!!
I'm sacrificing Top HP for quick spool and street-ability.

And also alot of broken trannies and axels, the fmax stage 4 produces way too much torque from what i have heard.

It doesn't have a pic of the equal length exhaust manifold but it is super trick. With the turbine housing that he's using, .73 A/R, that turbo is suppose to make like 425 ish... if you want more power, you can go with a bigger turbine housing. You'll also definitely want cams... they can give you 50+ whp at those power levels.
