Is this engine swap possible?
I don`t know for sure if it fits, because the Pulsar GTi-R has 4wd.

Does anyone know if this is possible, and if it is... how much work is there to be done?

Yea it is very possible do a search of read all the hundreds of threads. The concensus on the forum is that the GTI-R engine is overrated and costs more. With the money you spend on the GTI-R for only getting an extra 30hp. You could invest the extra $1000 building your Bluebird DET to push over 230hp. Be weary ***' U will come into problems finding aftermarket parts for the GTI-R or even spare parts. The GTI-R is not compatible wiht our DE engines. DE hence DET are the same engine same parts with minor modifications. The GTI-R uses different internals. So the choice is yours. If you ask me it's not worth it. Do a lil' research and I guarantee you that you will agree:D

Almost forgot. The DET is the same Block as the DE so they bolt right up almost identical to your stock engine. The only difference is that on the tranny there will be some hole not used.

The AWD Bluebird is automatic! No standard at all not like the auto would fit our cars anyways. But all you have to do is remove the AWD auto tranny and use whatever tranny that you have in your car.

Be careful. LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE BLOWN THIER TRANSMISSION. The increased power of the T to the DE wreaks havoc on our FWD tranny. Just be careful and you should be ok.
