Since it might cost me a lot of money to fix my 94 G20, I might as well get a SR20DE from Japan. Does anyone know of them for cheap? My car is a 94 G20, it should have that low port motor. Are these j-spec motor a bolt on or do i need to mod the car and swap the emission equipment? Thanks

Where can I get a regular US engine? I dont think I could put a JDM motor in my car 'cause NJ has pretty strict inspection guidelines. If I cant do that, well, I guess I'll just get a Spec V.:D

I don't think you should have any problem with an inspection in NJ with a JDM motor, however if you want a US SR20DE I have one for sale for $350 with 86,000 miles runs fine.

I'll keep that in mind CNibbana. My engine is making some tapping noises, and I plan on getting it checked out soon, probably next week if I can. Once I compare costs, I will decide what to do.

JDM Motors will work out fine in NJ... And even if they didnt pass
emmissions theres tons of places that will pass your for $50 Hell
whenever my cars boosted it will have a nice legit sticker on it
hhhahhah.. I know what you mean though You will have no problems
with NJ inspection with a JDM Motor as long as its in good running
order

are you saying that if i swapped in a JDM motor, that i could just leave on the JDM intake manifold on there?? It would be nice to know that I would have one less thing to swap out. I know it would pass the sniffer, but I'm not quite sure what they look for when they look under the hood since they don't always pop the hood.

Daryl, whats up man!? This is Jason Cope. Its about time you came to the forums you newbie :p Hey, Im working a few days a week at the Nissan dealer on Rt. 66 by you now. Its just temp. till I find something in graphic/web design, that is, if the economy ever picks up again. Maybe we'll run into each other again like we did that time on Rt. 18.

where in jersey do they pop your hood for inspections? i've never run into that issue. i have, however, been rejected b/c of loud exhaust. i think it was just the sheer diameter of the tip that annoyed them. whatever...i have a 2.5" tip and a new muffler (2.25" straight thru) and no problems the second time thru. don't know what bone was up the first inspector's ass.

If your asking me, they dont pop the hood. My concern is having a JDM pass NJ emmissions, thats all. Im not going to go to a private inspector, pay him 25 bucks or whatever, then have to throw him another 50 just to pass me, fuck that. I'd rather have an engine that will pass so I can have the state pass me and I pay nothing.

well, my family has 6 cars. I am in charge of maintenance and what not on them, and that includes bringing them to the inspection station. 4 out of 6 of them, they popped the hood for whatever reason...but i've never really asked them why. I just assumed they are looking for emmissions equipment....

I believe the engine should pass the sniffer because I have passed with my EGR system disconnected, so a JDM should pass as well....provided I still have the cat on there.

Or, i could just stop worrying about all this BS and just swap over the intake manifold from the US motor :p
