I'm replacing with ES bushings and I can't get the long bolt that hold the rear lateral arms to the knuckle. It appears to be rusted. Does anyone have any tips?

I also need to know what the torque settings are for the bolts in the rear and front. I'm doing the complete bushing kit.

TIA,

Tim

I'm about to do mine too - any tips? or how are you removing and inserting them?

Tips. How about soom penetrating oil and a big hammer. Go ahead and plan on buying that bolt X2 in advance. Both sides are rusted on peanuthead's car. It has been in my garage since saterday. Won't get the bolts from Nissan until Thursday. Have a set of 1/2inch drives with 6 points (or whatever to low # is). Get a piece of pipe to use as a extension so that you have more leverage. Plan on buying some new bolts and nuts after you beat the ones on your car flat trying to get the bolt out of the bushing. We have had maybe 5 bolts that have taken 70% of our time. What fun. For that bolt that you have rusted in we took the hub/knuckle out and then just beat it until it came out. Put a nut on the end to protect the threads.

Heh. Good luck. Most folks end up using a sawzall to cut the bolt.

I don't remember the details, but there is plenty written about this in the SE-R Mailing List archives.

Thanks for the advice. If you cut the bolt isn't part of it still in there?

Sure. It's still a mother to remove from what I understand, but it's easier.
