need a bb sr20det dipstick or how much should i take away from the de one?

i beleive they are the same length

^^^ They are different. The DET has a shallower upper oil pan which means a shorter dip stick.

I'll be tearing down my old DE block tonight or tomorrow, if I remember I'll compare the two (DET currently in car) and tell you how much will need to be taken off.

yeah shorter, fill to the middle of the bend on a de one
