: Break Question?

Ok guys I just have a quick question. I changed my rear breaks this past week and I noticed some very unusual wearing in them. My rear passenger side break wore pretty evenly, but my rear driver side wore very uneven. The outer break pad was just like the other side but the inner pad was almost worn out completely. The other tree pads were still in good condition but that inner one was all banged up. I had to change them because the little metal piece started to squeal.

What could cause this? This is the first time this has happened. I would hate for the same thing to happen to my new pads. TIA!!!!!

Rob,
Don't quote me on this but wasn't there another thread talking about the Master Cyl. 's proportioning valve going bad causing the uneven wear. How do the front pads look?

My front pads wear evenly. I am not sure what it could be. I thought maybe a out of balance tire or somthing but my car does not shake or anything. This is wierd!!!:D

your caliper might be froze.

correction. It is probably froze up. Pull the caliper off and see if you can turn the piston in.

When I replaced the breaks it was very easy to rotate the piston in. It went in very easy. So I know that is not the problem. Car stops very well!!!

I had this problem before.

Be sure the little "wings" on the pads slide very smoothly in the "channels" in the hardware in the caliper.
