I am considering a job in the Santa Cruz area and would probably live in Santa Cruz. What are your guys' opinions of the city of Santa Cruz? I want good and bad. Sorry this is not car related but I need to get a feel for the city and felt this was the best place to post. Thanks.

My daughter went to UC Santa Cruz and really loved the place. Something about surfing. Of course it is one of the three most expensive places in America to live.

Housing is very high there. Look to pay 2k per month for a studio apartment.:squint: Not to be a "hater" you would need a JOB making about 100K per year just to live there. Find a job in Ohio.:)

im in watsonville, 15 mins from santa cruz. its a great place to live. i love the area, youre 30 mins from san jose, 40 from monterey and 5 mins from the beach.
the biggest drawback is the housing cost. its not as bad as most say it is but it can get expensive. for 3k you can get a 3 room house across from the beach. as q said, a studio can be up to 2k a month but you can also find 3 br houses for that much. everyone i know that has left the area housing cost was the reason. most that work here cant afford to buy here.
traffic is not too bad but has gotten worse in the past few years, as any other city.
