: 91 SE-R performance parts
shumax 04-24-2002, 07:33 AM Hello-
I was a former MAXIMA.ORG member who had a nice 95 SE with Tokico Struts, H&R Springs, PR CAI, Stillen Exhaust & Y-Pipe along with Borbet Type E' rims...lots of nice things.
I sold my car to buy a house and just got married. I am now about to buy a 91 SE-R. I am having the hardest time finding parts for this car. I don't mean stock parts, but performance parts. I always thought the MAXIMA market was light, man---I can't seem to find anything but stickers on ebay for an SE-R:) Also, what is my car a "B-what?" I can't seem to find that either. I bet some "search geak" will find it for me though..ha,ha.
I am looking to lower it a bit, add a CAI, and an exhaust. I have been told that headers aren't worth the $$ for the minimal HP you will see. Anyone care to add anything to this?
Can anyone shed some light on a few places to get good, cheap performance parts online?
Thanks!

aztecred92 04-24-2002, 08:02 AM SHUMAX,
Welcome to the SR20DE(T) community.
Most of what you are asking can be answered at the following websites:
SE-R.net (http://www.se-r.net/)
SE-R Mailing List (http://www.se-r-list.org/)
The Sentra Network (http://www.sentra.net/)
SE-R Club of America ( SERCA) (http://www.serca.org/)
and of course, this forum.
Regarding your comment on that headers on an SR20DE:
We are fortunate to have a relatively large selection of headers to choose from and all will provide appreciable amounts of horsepower and torque gains.
Where to find performance parts (cheap):
Try searching the "For Sale" area of this forum.
All the sites above have a list of recommended dealers. I would encourage you to shop with them first.
shumax 04-24-2002, 08:23 AM I checked the for sale list and found nothing that was for my car. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. What is my car called...."b-what?"
Thanks!

Da91NX 04-24-2002, 08:39 AM B13, and you will enjoy the SE-R very much and you will notice there are companies coming out with new product for our cars now. There are also some turbo kits or a few different motorswaps if you feel the need for more power.
Brock Stepan 04-24-2002, 10:58 AM Need to lower your B13? I have some Intrax lowering springs that just came off of my B13 for sale. They were used for less than 9K miles and will drop the car approximately 2"-definitely gets rid of the ugly fender gap. I'm selling them for $100+ shipping obo. If you are interested, email me at broxsr20power@yahoo.com
There are plenty of B13 SE-R parts, but you're not going to find them on eBay.
Not to be crass, but if you're having trouble finding mods, you haven't looked very hard. :p
The SE-R List (http://www.se-r-list.org/) archives and search function here should turn up just about anything you want.

From one Schu to another you're welcome to send me an email at jimschu@frontiernet.net and I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction.
shumax 04-24-2002, 12:49 PM Ok- someone point me in the direction of I/H/E. Also lowering springs. The car already has AGX shocks. Who makes the best---thoughts? Finally, what should I expect to pay? I don't mind buying used parts either.
Thanks again for all of your help!

mpg9999 04-24-2002, 02:54 PM JWT, AEM, hotshot, and placeracing all make intakes for our cars. You can get headers from hotshot, pacesetter, and stillen. Courtesy nissan sells a midpipe then u can get a universal muffler. There are lots of other options too, most of them are listed at www.se-r.net for springs there is currently a deal going, check the classic forum, but it may be to late to join. I think a company did buy some extras, so you could buy them from them. You could also buy ground control springs.
shumax 04-24-2002, 05:51 PM You never get this response on a the Maxima list---well maybe, but not nearly as quickly.
Samir, "Sammy's" car is the one I am LOOKING to buy. There is another white version that I am looking at too. I can't decide as they have the same milage. Sammy's has a small rust spot, no abs, no sunroof and no power windows and locks. He is asking $100 less but has indicated that he would be willing to go lower. I just need to get up and see the rust. If it's solid, I will make an offer this week. However, if the rust is bad enough, I am forced to pass as rust is a big no-no to me! The Blue book on the car, in good condition, is $2280 and I added about $2-300 for the maint. he has done lately. We'll see. If not, I am on the white version like green on grass. All I have to do is wire that guy money and I have a perfect white SE-R. Or Sammy and I agree on a good price and I have a nice Red SE-R:D
Anyway, enough about my acquisition of an SE-R. I am going to have to dig into the parts when work lets up. If the weather is foul this weekend, I will be on a lot.
Thanks again for all of your assistance. I am happy no body slammed me with the search function. You never know---diggin up an old thread is good. However, going back over it is also good as it pulls in new ideas that might not have been included in the old post. Kudos to you all---
Thanks again!

atomicbomberman 04-25-2002, 01:53 PM you'll find plenty of parts for the B13.. these cars are great and there are plenty of mods for them..
www.hotshot.com
www.jimwolftechnology.com
www.stillen.com
and reguarding the header.. that's like the biggest bolton gain for my car man.. my 1/4 time was lowered by like 3/10 or 4/10 just from that mod alone!
DTyne 04-26-2002, 04:31 PM The AEM is the best CAI for the se-r, but its about $100 more than the hotshot which is still a really good intake. Go to sentra.net and look up in the parts database. They'll have the MSRP prices on parts, but at least it'll let you know what parts are available and by what companies. Don't worry you'll find plenty of good performance parts for your se-r.
Pretty White 04-28-2002, 01:21 AM Shumax, welcome. There are much more parts for the B13 Sentra SE-R than there is for the Maxima. Forget the Stillen supercharger kit.
There are about 4 turbo kits available for the Sr20 and the ultimate bolt on is a DE-T Turbo motor.
Look for my car in the next issure of the Nissan Performance magazine.
I have a NX2000 and a 97 Maxima SE. The Sr20 can be made faster than a VQ30. Not as smooth but faster.

Hey Shumax, just out of curiousity, what kind of gain did you see with the y-pipe and CAI? I've been thinking about modding my 97 Max SE 5-speed.
shumax 04-28-2002, 02:27 PM I saw about 10-15 from the Y-pipe along and another 5-10 from the intake. I lowered my quarter mile time nearly .65 sec and my speed went up almost 2mph. Best of all, it sounds unreal.
Look for the intake used and buy a Y-pipe new.
Dan_93SER 04-28-2002, 04:31 PM what kinda times were you getting? Low 14s?
shumax 04-28-2002, 09:13 PM I foget, exactly. But 14.3-14.5 seemed like the norm. I was about 15.2-3 totally stock!
Pretty White 05-04-2002, 09:20 PM I have heard a Maxima with a POP or some intake and a Y pipe with a Greddy. WOW!! At WOT no VR6 can compare. And that is hard to top, the sound of a VR6 with an intake. I wonder why Stillen never made parts for the 91-94 SE like they do for the 95-up.
