I wanted to get my rims gunmetaled...if that is possible. Can you do it yourself or should I have someone do it? I dont really know how hard it is to paint alloys. Who should I go to to have do it...would a local paint shop be able to do it well?

You need to find a place that does powder coating. That will be your best bet and it wil have the nicest finish!

You would have to call around and find out! I know whatever they paint is painted and then basically baked in a oven. Shop around I am sure you will find many places!! I hope this helps!!:)

prolly not. warning! stolen from a website:
Powder Coating has been referred to as a "dry painting process". In application, dry powder is pneumatically fed from a supply reservoir to a spray gun where a low amperage (1/100th of an amp), high voltage (45,000 volts) charge is imparted to the powder particles. The parts to be coated are electrically grounded so that the charged particles projected at them are firmly attracted to the parts surfaces and held there until melted (cure@ at 425 degrees for 15-25 minutes) and fused into a smooth (or textured) coating in our baking ovens.

Try Tru Wheel. They are in North Hollywood, CA. Their number is (818)765-5577 or (800)FIXARIM. They used to have a website, but it's under construction. www.fixarim.com

I have the konig V-racing rims...and even thought they look great, I like a darker look with my black car. I wanted them done right the first time so that it would look as good as if I bought the rim that color in the first place. I will check out that place but I will look in this area for powder coating rim places. Thanks.

How does this look for some gunmetal rims on a Red Classic?

My friend painted his track rims gunmetal. It looked outstanding, considering it came out of a rattle can. Only problem was that when he got the brakes (and subsequently the wheels) hot after the first session, they changed colors slightly. Powdercoating probably won't do that.

I agree the powder coating always looks impressive and shop around I'm sure you can get it done for a reasonable price.

I was originally thinking of just using a spray can og gunmetal that I bought for my badging but I noticed that the front badge is already starting to chip away so on the rims, there is no way it will stay on...especially with the way I brake with my crossdrilled's. But man, I just saw my rims in gunmetal courtesy of one of the members here..and they look sweeeeeet. Makes the silver look meek in comparison. I will post with pics when I get it done...as of now I still dont think my car is worthy.
