First time header install. Read SE-R.net, but am still questioning using any liquid gasket stuff.

I am about to install my header today and am trying to figure out if I need to spread any 'goo' gasket, like Permatex copper on the engine before installing the new OEM exhaust manifold gasket.

Also, do I need to spread more goo where the secondary meets the primary before installing the gasket there?

Will be doing this in about an hour. Current time is 10:45 am Eastern.

TIA!

i didn't use any goo on my headers. just be sure and re-torque all the bolts/nuts after one day of driving.

Thanks. I didn't see why liquid gasket would be needed since the gaskets are already there doing their job.

Hell no. Dont use any RTV Ultra Coper Gasket unless you break a bolt and need an emergency temporary fix. Use the gasket and it will be fine.

What kind of header are you putting on?

You really need to do this. I torqued the hell out of all the bolts when I put my headers on and the next day I all of them where somewhat a little looser and one was about to fall out. I went back and checked angain today and everything was fine

Jonathan--

You'll be proud to know that Brandon is carrying on the fine Pacesetter tradition. :D He is installing my 'old' header.

So, Pacesetter Powa' continues... :D
