Where did you get the car from, a previous owner who could have done some internal mods (cams?). Otherwise, maybe you just got an exceptionally strong factory engine.

Atomic, that is good. What rpm are you lauching at? I get lots on spin and some hop at 3k. I run 195/14/60 Yokahama A509's on stock wheels. The best I've been able, so far, to run is below.
Hp mods:
HS header
Stillen POP
Greddy 2" catback

I'd say you have a strong motor and you obviously know how to use it.

Not with a 2.3 60' time! ;)

For that run I have 1/2 a tank of gas, full interior, but of course i took out the spare from the trunk.

My tire pressure is 23psi for that run... I launch at 2800rpm, I did my next run launching at 3 and i wheel hop so I only got a 15.02 that time...

Usually I dump it at 2500... is there anyway to get my 60ft time down any more? I mean.. if I can run a 14.9 with 2.32, I can probably get like a 14.8 if I can get my 60' time down to 2.2 or 2.1...

Mods are as follow, I donno if my Rotas rims helped or not, they're 12.5lb each. The previous owner didn't seems to race it at all.. he's like a 50 year old guy and he kept the car in really good shape obviously... also the fact that my car have only 73k miles on it so far might have helped too. ;)

As for my trim.. my car is about as striped off the factory floor as there is in an se-r.. i have no AC, no sunroof, and only 2 front speakers and radio/tape. I do ahve powersteering and also power mirrors *** =)

I take bets that Atomic Bomber spins a bearing before the year is done. Anyone wanna take a bet? Something about used cars in good condition and spun bearings seems to hand and hand.

yea man same thing happened to me my car seemed to be running awesome and in awesome shape but then like a month after i bought the car it spun a bearing, i think it was due to a bent oil pan though.

Yep the same thing happened to my car only 2 weeks after I bought it! It had been owned previously by a 30 year old woman who probably never took it over 5000 rpms. When I got it I drove it like mad and them BOOM! one day the whole thing just blew up.
Also, something tells me she wasn't too into car maintenance.

well.. the previous owner didn't drive it much, he actually made it a point to rev it up everyday, he told me the engine isn't exactly happy until pass 4krpm.. the dude also have all the maintainence record up fromthe beginning and they all check out good.

ok, could someone explain to me exactly what a spun bearing is, how one prevents it from happening, and how you would know that it happened to you? i've been hearing quite a bit about the 'devestating' spun bearing and would like to know the mechanical process of spinning a bearing. also, sleeping 91ser, how would a bent oil pan cause you to spin a bearing? someone please enlighten me! thanks!

a oil pan that is dented toward the middle of the pan can cut off oil intake and throw a bearing, about the spun bearing issue just search around a little it has been talked about many times, to prevent this just always keep up on maintenance and make sure you dont let your oil level drop and fix and major dents if any on your oil pan and you shouldnt have it happen to you, but if the previous owner of your car didnt mantain it it could still happen.

the oil pan being the pan where the drain plug is attached? if so, mine is dented to hell and perhaps worth replacing. damn...

on my pops SE-R (RIP) when his pan got dented, I took it off and hammered the dent out. Went another 100,000 after that lol.

Yeah man no doubt thats a good solution, try to hammer it out its a much cheaper way to go and is also affective.
