I am not exactly an audiophile, but it seems to me that the way the grill covers up 1/3 of my speaker, not all the sound that is produced is coming through. has anyone thought of or attempted to alter this situation? or am i the only geek who cares?

The grill generally doesn't cover the tweeter part of the speaker so you wont notice the difference very much. If you are looking to enhance the imaging of your system you should condider getting a set of component speakers. Because even if you were to completley remove the grill, the tweeters will still be aimed at your legs. Hope this helps.
