I am confused about placement of the block heater in the sr20de engine. I need to get it installed before I put the engine back in my 93 Sentra SE-R. I have found that the parts house websites say in the back, but which freeze plug? Thanks guys.

while this may not answer your specific Q....
5 yrs in Fairbanks, Ak. taught me that a "perc heater" works better @ keeping the baby warm. think about it for a moment. a block heater will essentially only warm the side it's installed in, while a perc heater circulates warm coolant throught the entire heating/cooling system (be sure to keep the dashboard heater control on hot when the engine is off). also, add a 75 watt silicon oil pan heating pad, to keep the oil from getting thicker than molasses during super cold nights.
and a battery blanket can help conserve the cranking power of the battery.
build a junction box under the hood to plug all this stuff into.
this combination of warming goodies kept my vehicle starting without a hiccup, even during -65* temps.
and you can put all this stuff on with the engine in the car;)

Perc heater FTW. that's what i use on my vehicles. Definately invest in the oil pan heater as well.

When/why were you in FBX Teal? I'm in North Pole, stationed out at Eielson.

I have had circ. htrs, hose htrs and pan htrs all fail on me. The only ones I trust now are freeze plug htrs. Last winter it spiked down to -48F and blew 6 freeze plugs out of the truck, that was with hose htr and pan htr installed. Threw in a freeze plug htr and no more problems.
