T28 that bad boy, Brian. God knows I can give you enough pointers on T28 installs to write a book with, after this past week. :D

Vettes are great, don't get me wrong...

But it's like the Valvoline commercials: There's something about a job well done...

Good luck, whatever route you choose.

I've been thinking about the T28 route for some time now as well. I was thinking of the BB DET with T28 however. I spoke with a owner who has that setup, and basically he said that's all you could need, or use on the street. Best of all no BIG lag.

I don't know if I agree that a T28 is all you could need or use on the street... well of course "need" is subjective, but even in our cars we can use more than that on the street. There's wheelspin, but you get that with a T28 too. But when a T04e-equipped SE-R hooks up, watch out! :)

It is definitely a question of performance vs. driveability vs. power vs. lag. A T28 is probably the best solution as long as you don't need to go over 250 wheel HP or so, maybe 260. And yes, even that is shit-your-pants fast. :D

i think t3/to4e is the best !!
they both have wheelspin but when you are in 3rd gear the t3/t04e at 10 psi will just out muscle the smaller t25or t28 at 12-14 psi by no comparison

I understand that the bigger will out muscle the smaller. But as far as price, the T28 is one hell of an upgrade. I know my car has 77000, hard miles on it. I would love to put a t3/t04e setup on it but I'm leary about the motor handling it. That's why I personally was thinking the T28 route on a BB motor. Brian have you thought about the Hotshot kit at all? It seems really reasonably priced.

I called HOTSHOT yesterday and they said that they don't have the kit anymore. I am not sure if they are gonna sell it later. I called them directly.

As far as T28 is concerned, I think it is bad ass but it depends on how much power you would want. If you want 300whp, I think it will be too much work for t28. Hey Brian, I am in the same problem as you. T28 or T3/T04e? I am thinking of going T28, bigger MAF 50lb injectors and others.

ya, see, I don't need that much, but I want the power when I want it to turn up the boost and rock, but I guess I need to ride in a turbo se-r to see what I want, unfortunately, nobody in d/fw has a turbo se-r, so I am out of luck :)

So would you all recommend a T28 setup on a BB, or a Hotshot kit on a DE? Seems that the prices are similar. I know FMAX is better, but with that comes a higher cost.

Oh, and FYI, Dynamic Turbo has some Hotshot kits in stock $3800 plus shipping.

you sure you dont mean $2800? $3800 is not very far from an FMAX kit.

i made 320whp and 328tq with the t28 on my gti-r motor. and lemme tell you it was balls to the wall fast. never had a reliability problem with it or anything at all. but zak is right a t3t4 is a totally different type of turbo compared to a t28. however if you want a decent power for the buck a t28 if a solid pruchase but if you have a few more bux get the t3t4.

For what it is worth SR20Dev told me that a T28 on a DE is really a great street setup. They didn't like the fmax without the ballbearing as much because of the lag. With the ballbearing it was much better but $$$. They recommended the DE because it had better throttle reponse then a Blue Bird. Obviosly, this is a game of comprimises. Money vs Driveability vs Horsepower. Andreas said to me once. Decide how much horsepower you want and then chose the path on how to get there. So how much power do you really want. Keep in mind a 300 horsepower front wheel drive car is a lot on the street.

Damn, those are amazing numbers on a T28. What setup did you use to get those numbers? How often did you run it that hard - all the time racing, or just for the dyno run? Wouldn't that beat the hell out of that turbo, and lead to a very short life for the turbo?

Pardon my French, but Fuck Me. How exactly does one get to that kind of power level with a T28?

I believe jbanach ran a standalone. That combined with tuning, tuning, and some more tuning can yield some sweet results. :)

yeah i am running a electromotive tech 2. i ran the car daily and never had any problems with it. yeah tuning, tuning and more tuning. all my numbers are made off 93 oct pump gas you can get anywhere. with my 60-1 hi flow i made 424whp on the same gas. i am now awaiting a protech manifold and a t4 turbo with some fule upgrades. i am going to be selling my inline pump and 550cc injectors(bosch style) very shortly.

I have the t28 on my pulsar motor and it is very nice for the street. Of course it's only been running for the last week or so but i'll put it this way...last weekend i was down town following a buddy of mine around. He pulled into a lot and i followed. I parked and all of a sudden there was ALL the people in the parking lot around my car. The weekend before i lined up with an older 5.0 with some mods. They all wanted to know what i had in my car.... i wouldn't say. Then some guy was like its fast as hell though...beat my mustang. I was like yeah...but it's just a mustang...and he said just a mustang with a blower!
And my car is at the stock boost settings and mostly stock!
