For the mod.s' perusal:

#2http://www.louislaprad.com/sr20de/SR20DEFORUM2.jpg

#3http://www.louislaprad.com/sr20de/SR20DEFORUM3.jpg

(not actual size)

Here's some rough examples on what it may look like on the web:

www.louislaprad.com/sr20de/ex3.jpg

I can also superimpose these on a license plate, a window decal, blah blah, if there's any interest.

I think 2 and 3 are too tall. I like the layout of 1, but I think the tach thing is kind of hackneyed. I really like the engine view, I think it makes the point of the forum. How about replacing the tach with that on number 1? Heres a quick hack to see what I had in mind:

Whatcha think?

Keep the tach. Like I said in an earlier post, when I think of an SR20DE, the first thing that comes to mind is the hig redline.

can someone put together an animated gif such that the pstions and the cranks are moving? and make sure the speed of the engine is in sync with the tach reading! haha...just playing. the images all look pretty damn cool. a nice upgrade from the vc image.

Well, yeah, its a good-lookin' shot o' the tach! And I thought it would throw back some props your way.

My gripes weren't about existant artwork, it was how they were being used.

As for 2&3 being too tall, is that a limitation of the forum template restrictions, or is that just a mental roadblock? (I have done work for *many* record label execs here is Nashville that could *not* visualize a CD cover without an artist's picture huge on the front)

As for the four color engine, I used the 2-color one for simplicity and quality in reproduction in regards to t-shirts and the like. A 1 or 2-color design will reproduce *much* more professionally than a 4-color one (and be cheaper).

Take a look at almost any well-executed logo and you'll see they're limited to 2 colors.

Not that I dont appreciate you guys' interest, but Im going to chill until I get a direction from Eric or Ben. Things end up more focused and less Frankenstein when the decisions come from only a couple contacts.

To use an example, the original SE-R was probably the vision and input by a few. The new American Lancer was probably desugned by a commitee.

I say we switch to the #1 logo and just work the engine in it ..
Put the engine in the front and move the tach to the end.. Just
keep it as same height or close.. That logo is clean as hell and
kicks ass while looking very professional. Just my honest opinion.

I like #1 also, but I think the car names look a little too busy. I'm not a graphic desginer,so what do I know. I like them all Louis, good job.

#1 looks nice. I'd say keep the engine black and white, color is too busy and distracting unless limited to the colors used elsewhere on the banner/forum.

I don't know if thats a fixed limit of the forum, but having an image that tall on the top of every post could get annoying. I'm lazy, the less scrolling I have to do to read a post the better. :)

Jim R, not bad.

Do you have the colorized engine that I assume you did and would you mind sending it to me? It would be great for the web version.

I agree. Rockin' job on the engine, JimR. Use that in #1 instead of the tach (compared to Hondas, 7500RPM ain't squat) and change the black to the forum blue+purple and you're done.

BTW, I hope you don't end up with a camel...;)

Didnt change the colors to differentiate the masthead with the forum buttons.

Besides, the forum "blue," is that a default color?, and is it significant in any way, relative to the SR20DE?

I used red, white, and black, because those were the original SE-R colors.

Pick a favorite, because this will be the last revision. Otherwise, suggestions could go on and on (really).

To decide, I can mock-up simpler version onto stickers applied to cars, license plate frames, t-shirts, or whatever you can think of.
