i put the cams in my b14 yesterday, sound great, but NO low end power. like it was dangerously slow from a start.

i pulled the front cover off the motor to check cam/crank timing was ok. the marks are dead on, twenty spots away from each other, reset base timing, reset base idle and set timing to 15, still no go. although it did stall once, which i read was normal until the ecu catches up, which i reset.

is this something im going to have to wait out? or am i missing something?

i got all the info from sr20 forum, g20.net, and phatg20's fsm for the 98 sentra, so i assume im doing it right

s4's will make your car weaker in the lower rpms, at about 3500 they are equal and at like 4k you feel more power. this is how it feels in my car anyway.

just came back from a test drive, feels noticeably better. third gear is a lot longer now :). so i guess it just took the ecu a little bit to realize whats going on. i was all paranoid.

i got them used, should i have babied them? does the break in apply to the cams themselves or the rest of the valve train? i always thought it was for the cams themselves

the bottom end is not that bad. i feel a difference but it really isnt that noticable, and its definately worth it for the power increase you get.

yea i agree with classic se-r, once the ecu relearned everything it was SO much better. im going to play around with the idle and see if i can get it a little closer to stock even if it runs a little high

S4's seem to be the most well-liked cam around here it seems like.
