Do you already have the normal breathing mods? I/H/E?
Even if you're low on money you can get the basic breathing mods done cheaply. Use a K&N cone filter with some sort of adapter for the MAFS. Get a pacesetter header and exhaust, retail prices on those are rediculously low.
And then get a 94 or 95(can't remember which year) G20 ecu to lose the speed limiter and have a 7500rpm rev limiter.
That's the budget way to upgrade.

How much did it help the car? I be wondering if I should do this or just save for some s3s

I definitely wouldnt say it was a big power increase but I can feel it a little more than i expected... especially it seems noticeable at higher rpms....

The '91 - '93 cam is good, but S3s are better. For the next mod, I would get a CAI or a header.

Timing at 17btdc is a free mod, if you borrow a timing light. Look for a cheap used cai in classified's (any will do). For now get a nice cone filter at your local auto parts store for like $20.

ahh i loved my jdm cam install... one of my favorite mods... now the car pulls to redline instead of just going there
now u should get a 94-95 manual or automatic (doesnt matter) g20 ecu check out www.car-parts.com
get a cai, and header if you dont have one already

Get the ECu for whatever tranny you have, unless you like check engine lights.

Add up the prices of what you want to do then look at adding a "t" to that DE and see how you come out.
I am a college student as well but after i add the header, cams, computer for a few bucks more i can just put on a t28 over the weekend.

This is only true if you buy all new parts. I bought my springs for $100, intake for $100, header for $120, and ECU for $100. All used on this site, and Se-r.net. You just have to be patient, and add whatever you can use, when it becomes available.
I put in my budget 91 cam bought from courtesy for $180. This is because I didn't want to wait for a used one. They come up all the time in the for sale section. I also figured buying a worn cam from an old nx with over 160,000 miles or something might negate some of the gains from this particular mod.
That's $500 for what I think is a mean hp gain imo. I'm not gonna guess at #'s sotp, but it yields very welcome extra room up top. Also it adds a lot of power.
btw I did most of this on a college students budget. Get a job valet parking man. :D
