Good day all,
The orange monster has been sick for a while and it is time to do something different.
I am thinking of purchasing a roller rocker out of an 01
and adding a full GTIR kit including manifold, t28gtir 444 inj.,
maf, and gtir ECU + safc...and a front mount.
I been searching and searching, asking questions via PM,
and i think i got everything down. Aim is about 300whp daily driven.
Does anybody see any issues with my motor and boost setup?
Any info would be good to hear as the swap will be taking place within
the next 3 weeks.
im constantly researching info with the injectors, if they will work etc,
and the ecu...
All comments (positive and negative) are appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
-Shek

From the things I have read/ skimmed over I personaly would think twice about boosting a RR motor. But plenty people have done it but IIRC someting about rr and common ringland problems when boosted. I would try a boost+roller rocker search or Boost+RR.

Yeah, what he said. What's wrong with the motor that is in it?

current motor has over 150k, leaking oil, and has poor compression.
if i will be boosting, it will not be on my current motor, i dont want to
have to pull it out in a few months due to failure.
I read about and know some local guys who have RR motors boosted,
and they are running quite well. I do not beat my car and will not be
running this hard as my nx is my daily driver.
I just thought that a recent RR motor might be a bit more reliable than
the older jdm de's. I appreciate your input and would love to hear more.

yeah, if your existing motor is tired, then by all means swap with something that is up to the task. By no means are RR motors garbage. With the set-up you are proposing i think you'll have a pretty decent set-up.

the RR motor has a weaker crank, only 4cw vs 8cw DE or DET .

hmm, thanks for the input
what about a regular jdm DE + GTIR set up?
is that the better option?
I been doing a lot of research, lots of fun.
Running the GTIR ECU seems as though it will be quite troublesome as the compression is drastically different on the de. Any suggestions on that?

what was your compression numbers??? i have a 91 nx2000 that orginally was auto but this year went to 5spd and also went boosting when it had like 205,000 and now im probably around 215000 and no i dont drive this car hard all the time but i do have my fun with it by all means.......so again what was your compression test...my car was about 152ish all the way across....
ps did i also mention that hmmm i have a crank seal leaks? hmmm interesting huh? haha:0P
