How can you tell if a 91-94 has had an engine swap? Is there a VIN/SERIAL number you can match on the block to one on the cars main VIN plate?

Thanks!

Here's a shot of the engine:

Here's a shot of the tag in the door. What's going on with this car?

Again, it's adevertised as a 94 with a build date of 12/93. The odometer says it has 89k. The problem is that the engine appears to be from a 91-93. Now maybe because it was built in 93, this was one of the last engines they used that year before switching to low port for 94. Or, there was an engine swap. Anyone????

Thats the lowport engine, its what is in all 94 and newer cars with the SR20

So which is a "better" engine---high or low port? Where is the PCV Valve on these cars? What else should I look for in terms of maint?

The pcv valve is screwed into the valve cover. If your looking at the motor from the front of the car it is at the back left side of the valve cover. Whenever I buy a car I replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter. I just feel better knowing it's been done.
