Hello,

I was messing with my TPS and messed up my idle..now I have a real high idle and the idle gets higher when I put it in gear (not moving)...I still need to reset my ECU to have the ECU re-learn the adjustments made to the TPS, but I was wondering...how would I get a reading from the TPS to make sure it is adjusted right??? I know that with the key in the on position throttle closed it should be between .45-.50 volts...and wide open throttle it should be at 5 volts...I tried sticking a needle in through to the insulator and making contact but nothing!!! I even tried taking a piece of the wire insulator off using the pointers that are on my multimeter...and stick the pointers in there so they can touch the wires and still nothing...??? Right now my check engine light is on with P0121..Please help!!! I need to get my car up and running again.

Thank you!!

memo? I have a 99 G20T...and I heard something about the first version of the TPS sensor that it came out with..mine has the first version....it's only around $40 at autozone but the newer versions jumps up to about $114!!! This isn't a item that was recalled and I might be able to have replaced for free is it? Oh yeah..does anyone know how I would know if I shorted something out? The check engine light code only came on after I messed with the TPS...I already have another TPS waiting...if I did short something out would it be the TPS? Someone said the ECU could be shorted out, but if that were the case I think the car wouldn't even start.

Thanks!!!

memo = Office Space joke.

The links I gave you will show you how to diagnose your CEL (http://www.se-r.net/engine/ecu_codes.html), and more than likely will offer solutions on how to fix the problem.

Be warned that I can't promise these instructions work for a 99 G20. I assumed they'd work for all SR20DEs, but apparantly that's not the case.

Ah..the memo joke..yeah..I like that movie, but forgot that part...I think the instructions are pretty much the same, so I'll follow them.

Thanks for your help!
