I was talking with a guy in my band last night, who is a car guy, and he tells me that he changes his own oil every other time, but that for the in-between times he takes it to JiffyLube/Valvoline/Whatever, because of the lubrication that they do - wheel bearings, steering rack, etc. Do they really do this? I had to take mine to these places until only recently because of the regs at the apartment where I lived. They NEVER mentioned it, and I've looked at the receipts and there is no record of lubing anything on my car.
Any info would be helpful - I don't know what kind of schedule these lubes should be done (steering, wheel bearings, control arms, etc.)
TIA

I have seen those "packages" that some oil changing companies offer.
The price was around $30 for
oil change
filter
top off fluids
and re-lube chasis.
I dont think a car needs to be re-greased that often.
But I guess it doesnt hurt.
The bad part is that the price gets expensive with Synthetic oil and they use their own filters, not OEM. :(

I change my own oil and take it to them every 4th oil change or every 20k so they can give me a complete lube. I don't think that all those fluids would just run low after 5k-10k miles on its own unless there was a leak or some other problem.
Just my two cents.:)

Please enlighten me on what on our car needs lubrication? I am very curious. If I did it for you the most you would get is some white lithium grease on the sway bar bushings, in the door locks on the hinges and in the ass smoochems! Top off some windshield washer fluid. Why would someone add brake fluid or anti freeze? If your brake fluid is low it is either one of two things, a leak or your brakes are low. Adding brake fluid will do nothing. The same with Antifreeze.
Those places don't even clean your windows or vaccum like they promise. But some do offer full service car washes.
