My buddy is doing a clutch install on his 92 this weekend, and we want to make sure he has all the parts he needs. We have the pressure plate, disk, throw out bearing and axle seals. Are there any other parts? I did my clutch years ago, and i thought there were so circlips or something that he needed>? Anyone do a clutch recently and have a parts list they would like to share?

thanks!

I reused the old circlip. It was not deformed in the least so I figured why not. There is only one and it's on the driver's side. Be sure to bag and label all of the bolts you remove. That was the best advice I ever received. Follow the procedures that are posted on SE-R.NET and you will have no problems. FWIW, I had no trouble with the starter motor as I could hug the tranny and reach it perfectly from both sides.

Also, it's a good idea to pull the flywheel and replace the rear main oil seal. If you are using an impact wrench (and I wouldn't do a clutch without one), you can have the flywheel off in seconds. Pop out the old and tap in the new seal. It's piece of cake and will prevent a lot of headaches later.

Good luck,

I have never done a Sentra clutch but I have done a 510 about 3 times, Volvo and a Honda. Never used anything but hand tools. Did the volvo with no help on lifting the tranny. Is there anything special on the sentra that you suggest the impact wrench for. I wish I had air tools but don't. I will be doing a clutch soon.

I just checked SE-R.net. Is there a step by step install? I didnt see anything like that on there. IS there a link that you can post for me?

Thanks!

The link from SE-R.NET is dead. I'm not sure where it went. I'll keep looking.

But, the impact wrench made it so easy. When you have to remove a bolt on the rear motor mount, you can attach a few extensions and slap the wrench on there. Knuckles remain intact. The flywheel would require a 2nd person holding the engine if you do it by hand. The impact has no requirement. And those pesky suspension bolts tend to be tight and sometimes corroded. Not to mention the axle nut. I busted a breaker bar with a pipe extension trying to loosen one. The impact wrench struggled but it eventually broke free.

This is what I'm talking about.

Don't forget gear oil! I would get new clips to hold the throw out bearing on. I had to replace a clutch after 160 miles because I reused the old ones from my 92. They popped off and 1 got in the pressure plate. It broke 3 fingers on the PP. 2 clutches in 2 weeks is not a fun job. :)
