This guy in a almost stock (exhaust tip!) 5 speed '95 accord wants to race me. Now I dont know much about hondas, but I drive an auto 96 SE-R. What are the chances of me losing? You can laugh if you feel the need

first of all your at a disadvantage already if your completeky stock. Also see if its a V6 of a 4-banger. Also, if hes a shitty driver there is a chance of you winning, and you already have a 96 which was the year that nissan detuned the SE-R or slapped on some emissions bullshit. I owned a 97 auto SE-R and i got whooped by a v6 accord auto. So cross your fingers.

The Accords have about the same horsepower, but more torque. F speed agaisnt and auto, your gonna lose. And BTW racing a V6 Accord is asking for an ass whipping in a stock automatic car.

I say no chance for you to win... Dont put money on it but race for shits and giggles =)

BTW, the V6 Accord's are only Auto... I think the 2003 models comes with stick.

If its a 5-speed its a 4cylinder. Race him and find out. I have a friend with a mod'd 96 5spd accord he has Intake/header/exhaust and it runs 16.7's at its best. Even being auto you should take him with ease, it has the same hp as you do, slightly more torque, and a ton more weight. Report back with the results.

just remember how much more the accord weighs to your se-r... we have lightweight cars compared to honda.... we have the advantage....

Man, come on now people. Have faith in the SE-R. Accords are a joke to me, period. Even back in the day with an air filter and muffler i would spank accords, whether EX, LX, EXR, Type-R, Type-S,;) it just didn't matter how many letters they had on their trunk. OK now racing a V6 accord stock vs stock isn't in our favor, but doesn't mean you'll get waxed. Drop a turbo and it won't matter any more whether they are SOHC, H22A, whatever the hell other combos you can do with it. Can I put money down on this race on you? :D

No shit but we are talking about stock here... so youre telling me you beat GSRs and Type-R's with a muffler (0 hp -3 tq) and a drop in filter (+1HP), cause its pretty hard to believe... V6 Accord has 200 HP and will be an even race with a GSR depending on the driver. Now for the other Accords EX, LX, wtf is an EX-R? He might have a chance, but because he has an auto I dont think he'll win.

Now if he had a 5-speed against a 4 cylinder accord 5-speed, then I'd put money on him... as it stands now I put money on Mr Accord.

In black and white. There are no V6 5spd accords. A four cylinder accord in any trim level, manual or auto, stock or modified is slow.

Now, what SE-Rious B14 was saying about type R's was a mock on the accords with type R stickers. Reread his post.

Think of power to weight not just power. A accord is what? 700lbs heavier than a SE-R?

The big point is that the car is auto... based on all everyone is saying is that the auto SER runs the same times as a 5 speed... if it does then I retract all my previous statements

You should probably be all right racing him... my best friend up here had a newer accord 4 cylinder automatic (which shifted about 500 rpms below the redline WOT, so I can't say it would be a big difference going from auto to manual.) and using the patented "butt-dyno" I feel as though my stock Se-R could take him. But how can you know for sure? Go out and leave em at the line! :D Good luck and be safe!

How bad do you want to win. If you want to win bad then do some gas and brake at the same time and see if you can get a better launch. If that doesn't help then try a power drop from neutral at about 2500 or 3000 rpm. It's brutal but that is the only thing that got my mom's 1st gen Acura Integra to launch worth anything. She didn't know that I did that to her car.

like i said, "heel-toe that mofo!!" :D

don't forget ot remove the spare tire and jack, and only have have enough gas to get to the drag location, drag and back to a gas station.
just remeber top fuel dragsters are automatics, too. ;) :D

well id like to add my thoughts...

before modding a used car give it a tune up

i wish i could go back to when i bought my car, and did a tune up first.. i wouldnt have lost to some people

but anyways.. do ur timing and if you havnt done a tune up do one (even if its not in preparation for this race)

change ur spark plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires, fuel filter, oil, and oil filter... cheapest price is from courtesyparts.com

set timing to 17-19 degrees, and go beat some accord ass
