: Few Turbo Questions
TurboG20 04-29-2002, 12:58 PM OK I am completing my turbo conversion parts bin and all I need is the turbo and ECU. First, here's my setup:
Primera 10:1 SR20DE motor
BB Turbo Manifold and T25 Elbow
370cc injectors
Vitek Wires with NGK Plugs
2.5" Downpipe with 3" Mandrel exhaust and Apexi N1 3"
20"x6"x3.5" Core Intercooler with piping yet to be made
Apexi EL Boost Meter and Auto Meter A/F
Apexi Auto Timer
HKS SSQV Blow off
CM Stage 3 Clutch
Lines and Fittings on the way from JGY soon!
Now to the Questions, by the way my goal is only 9-10 psi because it's a street car and I don't want to break things.
1.I haven't been able to find a BB T25 so I was debating trying to make an eclipse t25 work and my question is if this is possible? Or where can I find a BB t25 for a decent price?
2. Will I need a custom program from JWT because of the 10:1 compression or just get the standard DE program for a Blue Bird setup? Where is the best place to get it from the quickest because I heard JWT is really backordered.
3. I want to vent my HKS bov into the atmosphere and I wondered if I would have to do the same a DSM guys and get an Apexi S-AFC? I want the sound of a nice blow off. Or else what would it hurt other than it would rich out between shifts and possibly die once in a while? I am willing to do this for the sweet SSQV sound.
Thanks for the help. SOON to be Boosting!
TurbochargedSER 04-29-2002, 01:16 PM The DSM T25 will not bolt onto a Bluebird or GTiR Manifold. It is not a conventional T25 flange!
TurboG20 04-29-2002, 01:21 PM OK thanks Louis. Which Turbo will work? I would also use a T25 if that would bolt to the manifold. I know that you have to shave it though which scares me. Where can I get one that will work? Someone please help!
TurboG20 04-29-2002, 01:22 PM Sorry I meant T28 above.
Brent 04-29-2002, 01:31 PM You can put a t-25 from a 300zx twin turbo on there. Go to twinturbo.net and search the for sale forum. They are pretty cheap most of the time but you might end up buying two of them. Just sell the other one and make some cash!

CowboyDren 04-29-2002, 01:39 PM I don't think running a turbo, let alone a T25, on a Primera engine is a great idea, but that's me. The HKS BOV is going to be a waste of money if you're just using a T25; I'd get a Porsche/Audi BOV instead (often less than $70). A T28, with it's generally larger compressor housings, may have a hard time fitting with a Bluebird exhaust manifold.
92SE-R 04-29-2002, 06:25 PM The TT Z32 uses a T22.

Which is way too small. Remember the Stealin' 200SX SE-R turbo? That used one Z32 turbo. It was slower than most bolt-on cars.

CowboyDren 04-29-2002, 09:15 PM I was pretty sure that AT cars had T22s, MT cars had T25s. I know about three times as much about SRs as I do about anything Z, which you could still fit in a thimble. :)
Rockwood 04-29-2002, 09:29 PM the T28, unless you went with larger injectors, isnt gonna give you any real gains over the T25 with the 370's and 10:1. with either turbo, you will have to limit boost to 8-10 psi on pump gas because you will run out of fuel.
the T28, with MSD 50 lb/hr and cobra flow meter, will be able to get you more power than the T25.
also, the T28 is not gonna fit on the BB manifold. call andreas or JGY customs for the T25, if they have them or buy a GTiR manifold from www.nismoparts.com for $252 (IIRC), and buy a T28. i think luis can get you one.
JCGator42 04-29-2002, 10:27 PM If you haven't bought the setup yet, I have a T28 GTi-R setup I have for sale soon, let me know,

P.S. even 440cc injectors with GTi-R rail and FPR. Gti-R BOV, manual bost controller. downpipe, intake pipe, etc.
Rockwood 04-29-2002, 10:38 PM 440 cc injectors wont work though.
JCGator42 04-29-2002, 10:39 PM don't they work when used along with a resistor?

Brent 04-29-2002, 11:13 PM The 90-96 z32 twin turbo z used both t22 and t 25. The first being used with auto for quicker spool up (and yeah i wouldn't waste my time with this!) and the manual got the t25.
The older Z used a straight t03 i believe which might be a little better but not much.

No, both manual and auto transmission Z's got the T22. Auto cars got a smaller A/R turbine housing (0.48, I think) than the manual (0.64, I think).
Brent 04-30-2002, 04:07 PM I don't want to start a pissing match here but this has been beatin to death on twin turbo .net for quite some time now. I would go there and do a search if you don't believe me.

91 se-rT
90 TTz-5 spd with t25's
92SE-R 04-30-2002, 04:15 PM LOL, you're talking to Mr. Garrett here man. You are going to believe some dude with a TT looking at his turbo over some guy that works at Garrett for a living?
Brent 04-30-2002, 04:30 PM I'm really wishing i had a fsm right now! If he can post the specs either from gharret themself or nissan then i'll quit pissing here. Maybe the name goes from t22 to t25 when they change the internals? I know they used the same housing but then again the t 22 /25 and 28 that nissan used (Housings)are the same from what i've read.
Just saying i have a T28 can mean A LOT of different things!
Brent
Brent 04-30-2002, 04:34 PM Not to mention i can't even see the turbos on my Z: They're buried in there! You have to pull the engine just to get at them or take half the car apart and munkie them around to get access.

JCGator42 04-30-2002, 04:37 PM just to clear things up, Gti-R injectors do work on our cars, 1st of all because they are top feed, 2nd of all because you can run them as long as you run a ballast resistors in-line with them. Also, the Gti-R fuel rail with the Gti-R injectors can be made to fit fine as long as you change out the mounting brackets which are different on the GTi-R manifold,
