: Bluebirds and Boost Controllers

While looking for some JWT cam anecdotes, I came acrossed the notion that stock Bluebird ECUs and electronic boost controllers don't play nicely together. I'm new to the DET universe, but why, in a nutshell, is this?

Do I need to hit the search button harder? Can you offer some terms for me to search for?

Got the bluebird motor in my 92 classic and I use the hks evc ez boost controller and it works perfectly.....no problems.

No I'm not, you need to use the jdm bluebird ecu to make everything work.

That doesnt really make much sense to me:confused:
Why wouldnt a electronic boost contoller work with a stock DET??? Ive never seen that problem man...

Let me clarify: If you have a DET engine, and are using a stock Bluebird ECU (not modified by JWT or anyone else), according to the information I've found, electronic boost controllers aren't supposed to work. I do not know why people think this, but some reasonably respected people think this, which is why I'm asking. I didn't even know that the wastegate on a DET was electronically controllable; this is one of the things that shocked me.

With a manual boost controller, the sky is the limit, but EBCs don't work, appearantly. Also, if you're running a JWT ECU it is supposed to be okay. If I knew why, I wouldn't be asking. :)

Ehhh... that doesn't make any sense. If a MBC works, then a EBC will work perfect for it.

ummm I second that Terrin
in the instruction manual for the Apexi avc-r the u12 sr20DET IS listed so uum I wouldnt get why it would not work

This thread (http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16605&highlight=S3%2A+S4%2A+Cams) is where I got the notion; can't seem to find the other references I found to the same problem when I was reading earlier.

Okay one more question; so, is the wastegate on a T25/T28 (as in Bluebird/Pulsar units) electronically actuated, or strictly mechanical?

ok....I have a stock bluebird det motor with a stock blubird ecu(no JWT program) and a hks electronic evc ez boost contoller....the boost controller works perfectly , I dont see why it wouldn't.

boost controllers might be a problem on cars with electronically actuated wastegates. the BB uses a mechanically actuated wastegate, so there won't be any problems, other than someone using it as a dial-a-boom, or FUBARing the install.

Okay; considering your anecdotal evidence, I'm satisfied. Thank you. :)
