Seriously Jonathan, you need a hobby, how about taking up model car building, and when you finish building it, cut it in half :)

Do what you gotta do. I will end up doing the same thing. By the way, what ever happen to that carbon fiber decklid idea? I thought it was a damn good idea. How are we to whoop Honda ass if we're not even on the same playing field? Lexan windows, one-piece front ends, carbon fiber fenders, carbon fiber decklids, carbon fiber dashes?

What did you end up using to cut the metal?:)

i dunno smooth. those supports are there for structural rigidity. i'd be worried that if something too heavy were to be placed (or worse--hit) the center, it might cave in. i am curious, though, how much weight did you actually save?

Does it vibrate like crazy? I rode in my friends civic with a fiberglass trunk and it was so damn loud!

NEVER!!!!!!:D :D

Well, this car will be my "play" car and I decided to start modding with the "free" stuff. If anything I lost 3lbs 2 ounces. I just did it to do it.
Plus, the look on my wifes face when I brought in the trunk was "PRICELESS". :D :D
se-r sam, I looked at the snips you told me about and I didnt have enough $$ to get them. They were only $10-$15 at Ace Hardware but it was either snips or dinner at Chilis. I followed my stomach. :) I will get them though for my hood supports though. I used channel lock pliers for the trunk and just used the "peel-sheet-metal" technique. The metal is really thin and rips off easily.

The trunk does not vibrate at all, but it is really wobbly when you open it.
Im thinking the rubber lining on the trunk stops it from vibrating when closed.
I wouldnt recommend it if its your ONLY car.

Keep your eye out for more free spontaneous mods.
