I have been reading about MAPs. I cant find too much info on this board or even others about the disadvantages/advantages. I searched for MAP and speed density and couldnt find great info.

I have heard that MAP kills your throttle response. I just wanna hear some opinions on peoples experience with a setup running w/o MAF. THX!

MAP's are not as accurate in measure air flow compared to MAFs. MAFs create more of an air flow restricition. But with the strictor emissions nowadays and the need to more precisely control the fuel flow, even Honda has switched to MAFs on their new cars.

Whats emissions??? lol, im in a........lets say somewhat rural area, and you dont need to do emissions, this is the reason i switched to a jdm intake manifold

what i think would be awesome is putting the air filter right on the throttle body, i am tempted to do that quick and just see what the car sounds like set up that way, but im sure it wouldnt even rev very well that way

idk, just and idea, something to try thats different, it doesnt seem like many people switch to MAP, and im sure the fuel control is the reason why, but i think it would just be cool

now im just rambling

They are when they are run in conjunction with an IAT. In fact, they are as accurate as you would need with an IAT.

91SERious-- What is the application? Turbo, N/A, NOS, S/C? For N/A I'd say converting to MAP would be pointless. For boost, it has its advantages.

They're accurate enough to make big power and run well; examples would be every honda up until recently. But with the tighter emissions regulations, they needed even more precise measurement, so now even Honda has switched to using MAFs.

Don't most of the standalone companies use MAP sensors?

so your saying to run a honda ecu?? lol, kidding

I guess my biggest concern is that my roommates told me that the MAP sensor is horrible for throttle response. True or False?
