Have you thought about converting to the b15 hydro operated clutch tranny. It is about 15% bigger/similiar to a altima tranny. All you would need is the pedal related items. They also make a N1 version, but it has a super short first that would be unsuited for a turbo IMHO. Before you ask not all N1's are bigger. Most are not. Only the Hydro is bigger.

If money is no object call up Quaife and be prepared to drop $15,000. Then you need to commission a shop to find you the correct axles with the correct spline count along with the proper hubs. All in all, expect to spend about $18,000.

I called Back Yard Productions awhile ago and they said that they had a transaxle that could handle 500WHP easily. As of now, the unit is not readily available. Expect to spend about $2500 with the proper clutch and flywheel.

$2500 or $18,000 either way someones got ya covered.

Why not use gti-r gears in a fwd tranny?Gears1 tru 5 should be the same. Only differece being the output shaft to the center diff and the final drive gear.

driveshaftshop.com or whatever make the unbreakable axles for ser's for like $900. Jamie Farrer uses them.

already been down that road with the GTiR gears. The transmission in the GTiR has the same setup as the old stanza manual trans nothing seems to be interchangeable the whole case and shaft support system is different (not counting the AWD stuff)

If you want to convert it to auto, you can try Level 10 in New Jersey. They guarantee there shiet for life but its like 4k for the tranny. I think Vinny Ten is using it.

Back Yard wouldn't disclose to me the type of transmission that they were using, but I was guessing it might be an upgraded Altima unit with adaptor brackets.

The Driveshaft shops axles are for the stock transmission. You would need different half shafts to work with the sequential unit.

I had contemplated converting to the auto transaxle, but $4000 plus the price of the conversion, I would be divorced by tonight.

They had a whole article on the 200sx with a guy named Chrstian. They wrote that they went with a bluebird hydro tranny thats front wheel drive and never had a problem. But as far as the Altima tranny, the KA tranny is supposedly from what Ive read to be interchangable with the Sr tranny at least with the RWD applications. If thats true than the same should apply for the fwd cars as well.

wasnt quaife making a gearset for like $3000?

the case, once welded, is pretty damned strong. its the gears, IMO, that are weak. have the input shaft cryo'd/shotpeened and have the case welded/cryo'd/shotpeened and talk to quaife about a gearset. while you were at it, you could lengthen 1st, so you can get out of the hole faster, and space 2nd-5th more closely together.

The whole Quaife deal fell through because there wasn't enough interest to shell out $3000 for a gear set. Mike Kojima spear headed this deal, but it fell short. I would love for it to happen.

Quaife deal fell through.

I think BYP was using a (seemingly rare) hydro FWD bluebird tranny.

I don't think the GTi-R tranny's gears will work, but it doesn't matter anyways, the GTi-R dudes break gears at the same power level we do.

Quaife Europe makes a sequential FWD gearbox, but its expensive as others have stated and certainly requires adaptation.

I believe XTRAC makes a gearbox that was used in the BTCC primeras. Hewland also has a FWD gearbox. I believe both of these are sort of generic boxes that you have to make work (ie custom bellhousing, axles, etc) These are both probably 20k plus..? just a wild guess.

I think the Pulsar N1 tranny is proabably a good option. Its maxima guts in a smaller case (or am i thinking of another box..)

Mickey, how are you dealing with turbo oiling with it mounted vertically like that? Maybe I'm missing something, but won't it just piss oil?

According to this website quaife makes a gear set for gti-r, and i dont think it is 3000$

Andris, you are thinking of the JDM B15 hydraulic tranny. The N1 gearset is just shorter ratios with no increase in strength.

Dude, that's looks bad ass!! I've never seen a drag NX before. What times are you expecting to run? What HP levels are you at?
