I also have a 98 SE, but its an automatic. When the car shifts, it makes a clunking noise that I can feel through the gas pedal. It's not a loud noise. Last night in the garage I shifted from P to R to D and then back to R, and every time it made the noise. So it's definetly constant not just once in a while. I'm thinking that it might be one of the motor mounts, is there a transmission mount? What do you guys think, any suggestions?

By the way the actual tranny is fine, the car downshifts OK and does not slip at all. It's just that damn little "clunk" that worries me. Thanks

I have a 98 1.6 auto that had the same noise. It was my rear mount. I got a set of ES motor mount inserts and used the rear to fix my torn mount. It cured the noise and lowered my 60' times.:) That was before I got a 92 SE-R.:D
