Ok here goes.....

Bought the whole kit to re-key my NX, as before I bought it some bastages broke into it to steal the stereo, while managing to fuck the locks on both sides. Long story short, no where I went could I get a key that worked sooooo...

I ordered from nissanparts.cc the whole kit - they said and courtsey said it did not include the T-Top locks, BUT it did. I have the part# if anyone needs it, nissanparts.cc was like $20 or $30 cheaper so I bought there, long backorder (like a month) but I figured that......

I started today because one of the supports on my power window let loose and the window was F*cked up, so while I was in there lol...

Procedure:

Doors - Remove door panel, put the window all the way up, there are 12mm bolts, 2, holding the door handle assbly on to the panel, remove them, and remove the plastic clips holding the rods that control the door latch and lock mech. After you get the whole thing out, there is a paperclip like thing wrapped around the lock cylinder, remove it and the cylinder falls out. Replace it, and install is the opposite of removal.
My notes - the doors are biotch, you need REALLY small arms to get in there.

Ignition - Holy S*it..... The replacement has two 5/16" bolts that clamp the assembly onto the steering column, however the factory uses headless bolts - which means this is ***** suck. There is no room to drill them out easily so I used a air cut off wheel to make a nice gash, then took a air hammer to it for like 10 mins. The funny part? - After 10mins on the drivers side of the thing, the passenger side bolt POPS out on its own, it just screwed out by itself lol..... That was the suckiest part of the whole thing.
My notes - for safety I disconnected the battery for 10mins before working, I was afraid that airhammer + airbag wouldn't get along well.

Trunk - Pretty simple, remove the hard plastic cover near the rubber gasket, then pop the clips holding the carpet off. There is a piece of metal slid against the mech to hold it in, pop it off and switch them out, your done.

Glove box - Pull out the 5 philips screws to remove the glove box door. Take out all (yes all) of the screws to get to the cylinder. Its kinda tricky with the springs and all so study it really well before messing with it. Simple once you get it figured.

Thats it - again I haven't tackled the T-Tops yet, but I'd think they are pretty simple. I'm loving it, the set came with two factory keys and a little tag with the # on it to get them recut if you loose them. Knowing I have an extra key and I can acutally lock my doors is nice now!

hehehe

When I put the new door on my NX I was smart and swapped the locks with the door on my bed. I think it made it 100 times easier. I would NOT want to tackle that project with the door on the car. It's a major PIA to do, and I'm glad I'm done with it.

How much was the kit if you don't mind me asking. The trunk in my '91 won't open with the key. I figured it was because the key was worn out, but I ordered a new one from Courtesy, and that fied the glove box lock, but not the trunk. PM me if you don't want everyone to know.

I think it was $140-160, I have it somewhere and will let you know if need be, I have the part# floating somewhere too.
