Question....

Sis's boyfriend bought the NX today.... he loves it but minor details.... he wired up his stereo and crossed some wires (dimmer). Anyways the parking lights weren't working so I grabbed the only spare fuse, a 20 instead of 10, soooo lights started working but we heard something else blow....

Long story short, dash lights are dead, removed the short in the wiring at the radio and now the parking lights work with only a 10 amp fuse....

So anyone have any ideas? Dimmer switch?

For the records....

If your dash lights blow and don't work but the outside parking lights do work, its the dimmer switch.

Also, a dimmer switch from a B14 works just fine with that of a B13, the silkscreen is a little different, but you can pop the face off the switch.

i developed a similar problem yesterday. My fuse keeps blowing for my rear light fuse. I disconnected the dimmer switch and it still pops every time i turn on the headlights. Both my dash and rear lights will not work now and i cant keep replacing fuses every 5 minutes. any ideas?

Do you have an aftermarket stereo? If so check the dimmer wires (orange).

Nathan,
Check the wiring harness for the lights under the rear seat, if tracing the harness-no problems. Unplug each rear light assy, 1 at a time while turning on the headlight switch to determine which assy has the bad grd, bad bulb, etc.... This way you can find out which side is giving you problems.

Ya, chances are it's a short to ground causing high amperage, blowing the fuse.

I tried unplugging all the tailights, disconnecting my radio, and no luck. It was the SIDEMARKER! who would have thought????? The bulb had come out and the wires were dragging against my wheel which spliced the wires and when they touched the apparently fused so it was constantly a short to ground and kept blowing the fuse. Thanks to peanuthead for figuring it out and thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I installed my new stereo on the weekend and appear to have done something to the dash lights. All the warning lights, park brake etc work fine, but when I turn on my lights, my dash doesnt light up. Ive checked the dimmer and been through the fuse box near the drivers side door but couldnt find any fuses referring to the dash lights.

Any ideas what's happened and how/where to fix it?

Thanks

Are you sure the rear lights are working?

If they aren't then check under the hood. It's the black fuse box to the right and refers to the rear lights. Should be a red 10 amp fuse.

Hope that helps.

I just noticed tonight that my rear lights arent working either. I will check that fuse box again tomorrow. Hopefully thats my problem.

That sounds like it then.

I was running for 2 weeks with no rear lights and didn't notice :( Must have been some very pissed off people out there...
