First of all, I must be the worlds dumbest newbie....

I haven't had my G20 for even a week yet, so I haven't learn much about the "security features" yet. I previously drove an automatic, so I wasn't used to parking my car and using first gear as park (cause I would always forget it was in first when I would start my car and let the clutch all the way out...) so I would leave it in neutral with the e-break on for parking. Somehow, guessing that was the mistake, I engaged the anti-theft and the batter was shut off and the car would not start. Thinking I had battery problems, I had several people jump the battery, adjust and tighten the terminals, and give me other usless advice (school parkinglot). I even had my cousin, who drives a 92 SE-R try and help, but he doesn't drive a G20 and probably realized the real problem later at work. I locked my doors to get some water and when I came back, it finally started. This happend twice before a friend read the manual and told me it was my friggen anti-theft system. Wow, I feel like a moron. Guess I should stick to guitar, huh?

My 1st summer driving I had a problem similar to that in a Maxima. I turned off the car in drive (auto) and couldn't figure out why the key would not come out. Chew on that for a bit...

But what did you do wrong? I put my car in neutral with the e brake up. I never park in gear.

Yeah I always set mine off on the 200sx. When I am driving around with friends and a bunch of us will go park...i usally leave my windows down and always lock the car out of habbit. So whent he door wont open cause its locked I also reach in and unlock it and open the door. Thats when the alarm goes off and I feel like a real stupid ass in front of my friends. LOL Just thought I would share that.

my little keychain does not work anymore. I put a new battery in it but it still will not work. how do you turn the system on and off? maybe my anti theft is off...?.

Always use your PARKING BRAKE (really, it's called a parking brake, not an e-brake) whether you drive an A/T or M/T. You should also put your car in gear, opposite the slope. This way all four tires are locked and reduces the chance of your car rolling away. The rear brakes that act as your parking brakes are not all that strong anyway.

unless you have a turbo timer, then it is usually best to leave it in neutral.

when i first installed mine, i let the clutch out (more like dropped) when it was in 1st (old habits die hard) and it leaped forward. luckily i had my ebrake on, otherwise it would have smashed into my friend's 2001 Audi S4. oops.

I really don't know why I have had this anti-theft problem, but I know how to fix it now, that is the important thing. When my horn would go off, I just pull the fuse and no more horn.

I just recently had a similar experience in my 92 se-r I just bought. I have an ignition kill system that has a extra lock on my hood to keep peeps from stealing the engine. ANyhow, I didnt spend the time reading about the alarm system. Turned the ignition kill on my car to on and then came back a few hours...forgetting that I put it on. I popped my hood to do something in the engine and couldnt get the hood open...so I was like "Huh?" so (in front of two other people mind you) I started yanking on the hood to get it open thinking something was jammed in it. Then I looked inside and realized the ignition kill locked the hood down...DUH!!!! Anyhow, it turned out that somehow messed up the ignition kill key lock and I cant turn it all the way over...so no more extra alarm till I fix it. One of the dumbest things I have ever done since freshman year at college. Felt like such an idiot and those two guys wont let me live it down.
