Ok fellas so I recently was given some old Nissan 53J oil filters that had been laying around in my shop for years. From what i've been told they have been stashed away since 1995.
Do you guys think these filters are still good to use? They are still sealed in the plastic wrap.

I don't see why not. Take one apart (use a hacksaw to cut in half) and check the filter media to ensure it doesn't crumble apart.
If they've been sealed, I would imagine that they're still good, but check them to be sure. I'd hate to see them crumble apart after you install one, and have that crap circulating in your motor. Could be pretty nasty.

i agree make sure theres no driedout rubber seals that could let go. otherwise gofer it and change your oil like every 1000 miles, make it all perty inside

I'd use one of the old Mahle/Tennex Nissan filters before the new ones they sell now :|
If they're sealed, they're good to go.
For all you guys out there who wonder about oil and filters, check out this place:

My thoughts exactly. I could imagine that the paper filter media would literally crumble...
