: living in texas with little A/C sucks... dono200sx 04-29-2002, 11:54 PM Has anyone had this problem before? My A/C in my 95 200SX is acting real wierd. On my way home from work today, when is wasvery hot and humid (2PM) my A/c would be blowing cold, then hot, and would switch back and forth. This made for a very long half hour drive home. I had a compressor on a Honda that would only kick on at idle and then when I got on the road it wouldn't work. I found out that there is a gap that has to be within spec between the compressor clutch and the pulley. You check it with a feeler gauge. With yours it might have too big of a gap and may be "slipping" the clutch. If you pull the clutch off of the compressor there are little washing type shims that have different thicknesses so you can add or remove them to get the proper gap. Thank god for nissan truck's:D If you need a/c parts, I took all my a/c off of my 91 this last fall. It blew ice cold. I have the compressor, condenser & drier, lines, and the fan. I took my car in to a trusted mechanic today, and he verified my concern about the compressor. It still works somewhat, though not enought to make a difference. BTW, how come you don't use the A/C system any more?
