Here's the eBay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Adjustable-Tunable-Silencer-For-Exhaust-Muffler-4-Tip_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33636QQihZ014QQitem Z330034301262QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Like the title says, I received my exhaust silencer today and installed it. It was ordered on 9/29, so it took less 3 weeks to receive it. Not bad consider it came from Hong Kong. It cost me $27 shipped to my door. The car is setup for the street with a hotshot header/cat/VRS 2.5" catback with resonator (Magnaflow muffler with 4" tip), stock cams, AEM CAI. I needed a solution to the exhaust drone at highway speeds, so I figured this would be a cheap and easy solution. If I decide I want it loud again (ie. track day/autox) it's only an allen screw away from back to the way it was.

My initial impressions are it's a nice piece for $27. The piece is identical to the auction's photos. Full stainless, including the screws. Not at all flimsy. It took all of about 30 seconds to install it in the end of the muffler tip. My Magnaflow already had the required hole for mounting, so it was a breeze. The adjuster works as described, two allen screws and the plate adjusts the two openings. I have it fully closed. The exhaust note is noticable quieter. I cranked it up to around 80-85 on the highway and the drone was only very slight. At 70-75 it's pretty much non-existent. I can actually hear the radio now, yay!...:D Off the line, I really didn't notice a difference, in terms of power. I'm sure at the very top end, there's some loss (ie. the 1 3/4" opening), but my seat of the pants dyno can't detect it. I'm sure on a cam'd or turbo car, it would be more noticable.

Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend this as a solution to any noise issues you may have for your DD. The fact that it's so easily removable and inexpensive to buy is very appealing.....best of both worlds for $27...hard to beat. :biggthump

Very Good Solution...

One alternative you can think about next time is a smaller tip. I didn't know this was an option for the VRS until I talked to Tank (Slamed150). When I ordered mine I chose a 2.5" inner diameter tip rather than the 4" for my 2.5" exhaust. It def isn't loud at all, only at WOT... I have pretty much the same mods at you besides some outlaw spacers... My Intake is louder than the exhaust.

I was wondering why everyone was saying that it was loud, maybe the larger tip is amplifying the sound (like a megaphone). I don't know, but I'm glad you found a solution.

I purchased the exhaust almost 2 years ago, direct from VRS. I not sure the smaller tip was an option back then. If it was, they didn't mention it. I'm sure a smaller tip tones it down. Looks less ricey, as well. Oh well, live and learn. :dunno:

Good review Hank. I had been also thinking about getting a silencer for my VRS exhaust. Problem is, I have a 3" tip. Did a search on E-bay and not 1 silencer came up for 3" tip. Guess my tip isn't ricey enough ;)

Edit: searched google and looks like DC Sports makes 1 for 3" exhaust. Cheapest I found was $37+ shipping

i was having a problem when i was running my basic t25 setup with a 3" no resonator, no cat vrs exhaust with 3" magnaflow tip muffler. it was loud as hell so i made my own silencer. cost me nothing, well because i had all the stuff lying around. i used the old outer race from one of my old wheel bearings. welded it onto a piece of 3" pipe hammered down. isn't that pretty but works real well. hold is maybe only 1 1/2" or so only. i could grind it to make it look nicer but i didn't care.
