***** fellas help a guy out

the situation/dilemma is deciding on whether or not I need my DE ECU reprogrammed by jwt, (to run my S3 cams with my BB DET)- or would I be ok with using a BB ECU. From what I gather the only difference in getting the ECU Reprogrammed is for idle rough/smoothness correction(mostly associated with S4 cams) and possibly a + 2 HP gain. The cams are in my DE (S3's) right now (for over uum 2 years) no problem with Idle.

I would like to know if/when an ECU is reprogrammed by JWT is the ECU reprogrammed to recognize something that it didnt/couldnt before-if so what?

Isn't the BB ecu capable of 'learning' or at least recognizing the difference in cams thus adjusting things accordingly?

I would really appreciate some good definitive answers,links,threads, personal experience- the works
(yes i have tried every forum and archive search I know of and it seems this question has'nt been asked.)


Ummm and finally - for the sake of all you guys waiting on your ECU's to get reprogrammed and shipped back to you- I will NOT CAll JWT-as I would rather let those guys continue to work with out delays - *** you know you guys need your freakin ECU's

anyone, anyone?--a little help hear

The S3 cams are pretty mild; the Bluebird ECU should be able to keep the engine idling. I'd still send the ECU off, though. I've been looking at using S3s and T25s, and there seems to be a big, resounding thumbs-up on this combination, but I wonder if anyone has B2B dyno charts of this stuff. If I ever get off my butt and do a turbo, I think you'd definitely see this from me: BB ECU and stock engine. BB ECU and S3 cams. JWT ECU and S3 cams.I'd bet that you can pick up more than 2hp on a turbo engine with the right JWT program...

just trying to figure if i should take the hit in the wallet and the delay or just put a BB ECU in (if i can dig one up) and be done with it.

The S3 cams are weaksauce. I ran the C3 cams with stock ECU for a month.

hey 92SE-R what did the car run like (i.e - idle/ low end-top end-detonation-timing)gas economy-where you rich or lean. and what are you running now and why didnt you stick with that setup?

Idle loped hard but it never stalled. Never detonated. Low end sucked, bu tthat's just the C3 cams. High end was fine. You always run rich whether with JWT ECU or stock ECU. I'm running C1 cams now because im turbo.
