i was reading in sport compact that nissan stoped making the 2.0 sr20de motor we'll this brang a tear to my eye until i went to an infiniti dealer and saw that the 2002 g20 still carried the sr20de at first i thought maybe it was the sr20ve until i went under the hood and read sr20de. i think the g20 will carry the sr20de for awhile or if they upgrade it it will still be a 2.0 cause then it wouldn't be a g20 if they changed the liters. it'll be cool if they make an infiniti g25 with the new qr25de.

well what they said is pretty true. the 2002 G20 is the last year for the car and the engine. they probably dont manufacture the G20 anymore in the nissan/infiniti plants so it may be true. for 2003 the G-series will have a 3.5 liter in it so it will be a G35.

we'll i don't think theres gonna only be one g series car for many reason the first to mind is the g20 is a very popular infiniti prouduct and they still make the primera in japan and i read in an artical that there not discontinuing the g20 series just making a new model of it. the g35 is a 6 cylinder car and infiniti needs at least one 4 cylinder car.

The Infiniti brand has outgrown front-drivers, especially small ones with thrashy four-bangers. That's not my take, but it's loud and clear if you've followed FreshAlloy news and the like. They've moved to having exclusive RWD premium sport sedans (and SUVs). The G35 and Murano are the new wave.

Infiniti is building an image, and they're not out to sell bargain luxury. I think a facelifted P12 Primera with SR20VE and six-speed box would be great, but it will never happen.

After this year the FWD G20 (SR20DE) is history. Infiniti already has made that announcement. Like JimR said, they are completely in the RWD high performance sport sedan business now.

Since they still have B13s I don't think Mexico counts.:p

Jim, you forgot the I30, which is just like the Maxima.

It already has. The newest Primera offered in Japan has a 205 hp VE motor and a six speed tranny.

In all acutality the new Se-r should have had the sr20ve in it, not this limited redlined, QR25de in it. I would have sought after a new se-r in a second if that were the case. But alas, nissan felt otherwise.

Could you post a link to that? The only engines offered in the Primera that I could find on Nissan's Japan web site were the QR25DD and QR20DE. Thanks.

In Mexico I believe the B13s they currently sell just have either the GA16 or QG18, not the SR20. Plus they are all 4 doors. :)

Jim, you forgot the I30, which is just like the Maxima.
The current Maxima and I35 are dead in the long-range outlook. Nissan is just biding its time selling two redundant cars, the Altima and Maxima/I35, with similar size and output until the RWD full-size replacement for the Maxima arrives in a few years.

Infiniti is so desperate for RWD luxury sedans that next year we're getting the Cedric/Gloria with a ghastly facelift. They're calling it the "M45," and it's as much of stopgap car as the rebadged Leopard we got a decade ago, the M30. At least it has V8 motivation:

I was talking about bringing the Primera 20V over with an Infiniti front end. The hideous corporate "mustache" on the P12 Primera is its failing point, and a fresh "Infiniti" nose treatment would make it a sharp car. Plus, the five-door and wagon are two otherwise good-looking cars that would add some range to the Infiniti lineup (if that was what they were after).

(If any of you haven't heard about the Primera 20V, it has nothing to do with the number of valves in its SR20VE. When I first saw that, I almost flipped.)

I know they have made SR20DE powered B13s in the past, but not currently.

How much are SR20DE powered B13s in Mexico right now?

That I couldn't tell you.

So, DO they still make them in Mexico? Or have people there just done some engine swaps with JDM or USDM SR20DE's? I'd be curious to find out if they are still making them there.
