Ok here is the deal. My oil light comes on at idle, Temp gauge gets up there(Fan is on but temps are not going down), Smoke is coming out of the exhaust(Oil). The motor is warm also. I just rebuild my whole motor. Everything is new on that motor. My turbo has not even 500 miles on it got it from FTF motorsports. There are only two things we can think the problem is. The cooling system has a air in it and the oil seals are bad in the turbo. I talk to a local shop here and they said they got three t3/t4 turbos that were bad. What do you guys think?? INfo please

Richie,
Did you install a metal head gasket? And when you torqued the head bolts did you tighten, then loosen, and then torque to spec. or is it a different procedure w/a metal one.
Have you tried bleeding the cool. sys. again?
Chris

Let's see... Oil pressure light comes on at idle indicating extremely low oil pressure (heh, really?). Result, ruined seal on the exhaust side of the turbo. Check the shaft for play... tell me how it feels. Ask me how I know this ;)

Now, lemme guess... at the back of the block you have a tee going into where the oil pressure sending unit used to be. On one side of the tee you have your stock sending unit and on the other is your turbo oil feed line. Am I right?

What's wrong with this setup?

I dont have a oil presssure gauge right now. I was going to buy one after the rebuild. I guess I will have to buy one tomorrow. Is there anything I have to watch out for?

Frank: you're running a turbo DE, right? You should be fine; I ran my setup just like this also. But, it seems like the DETs (which I think is what Richie is running) don't like this setup up for some odd reason. I say this because I've seen this happen before.

Richie.. I know this because I've been there and done that :D I doubt this ruined your last motor, but who knows. But, you should definitely get an oil pressure gauge; I wouldn't run without one! Get the gauge and post some readings at: idle, 1,500 RPMS, and say 5,000 RPMS and let us know what you find.

Well the flush out the cooling system everything is ok at idle. Just alittle white smoke coming out of the turbo. Dont know if its the oil seals are bad on the Turbo or its just the rebuild. I think the turbo is bad when i got it because it was smoking too when I first put it on. What do you guys thing? Also is there a warrenty on the turbo?

Do you have a part number off hand for a oil pressure gauge?
