I'm going to be selling my 98 prelude soon and i'm hoping to get around 10k after paying off some stuff.
I had a 92 g20 before and had plans of a det, but things came up... and you know how that goes.
I'm thinking about getting an sr20det power car, but it needs to cost 10k or less after the swap and possibly rebuild. and it must do 1/4's in less than 15s. I know the prelude is a freakin honda, but it does 15s stock. so i want to do better than that.
i'm thinking if i can find a car for 3k or less, that i would have enough for either a swap, or a complete rebuild with a stage II F-Max kit. i want 300hp if i can afford it.
anyhow, if anyone has a better idea let me know.

One more thing, which cars will an sr20det swap into more easily? Like is it a big deal to swap it into a sentra se automatic and convert to 5-spd? sorry, i didn't pay much attention to sr20 cars outside of the g20. any help is much appreciated, TIA.

Well, in all actuality, an nx2000, 91-94 classic, and 200sx se-r run the quarter stock in the 15's. Any of those cars would be a perfect platform to do a det swap. You have the choice of a bluebird DET with the t25, which is cheaper and easier to install, but has less power then the t28, that you can get from the gti-r, which is supposedly a real pain to install. You can get a complete t25 det engine, with tranny and turbo for under 2 grand. You will be deep into the 14's with stock boost, if not high 13's. Depending upon your driving skill. check out www.jgycustoms.com You can also pick up a classic for pennies practically, and if you can find an nx2000, they are fairly inexpensive as well. Good luck with ur plans, and congratulations on making the conversion back to nissan. :D
as a side note...if u want to hook up a hks turbo, or an fmax kit, ur gonna be looking at 2800 to 3200 bucks just for the turbo kits themselves. I personally would go det instead.

I'd like to know where all these abundant and cheap classics are, last time I checked there wasn't one to be bought within 600 miles of me. Apparently I live in a classic vacuum.

First find a sr20 powered car
the style should fit your taste, the egg, brick or b14 are all bout taste
Then go into the turbo forum and do some research
Then decide if you want a swap or piece together a turbo system

as a side note correctly done a t28 will get you deep into the 13's with about 250whp

Toolapcfan, I'm in central FL and it's not easy to find these sr20 powered cars. I have found several classics and a g20 (the brick?)
Now most of these aren't in the greatest of shape (mostly a lot of miles), but with a rebuild or swap in mind it's not a big deal.

OnyxEros, well I loved the handling my g20 had. It was also rolling on the AGX/GC combo. autox anyone? but I think I like them all. I'm into the whole sleeper look. I like the egg cause it's lighter therefore quicker in the line, then the brick handles with the best of them. I guess the classic is like a happy medium. Something in the middle. Now I'd prefer to stay with the G or classic cause I want to put some sound in (I know the bass weighs a ton, but that's what boosting's for), but if I got (can find) the egg then I'd spend that extra 2k on going fast. The egg would be a 12k car.

AHHHHHHHHHH. so many options.
I guess I just need more time to think this all out.

FYI - Sis's boyfriend bought the red NX I fixed up and installed 3 of his 4 clarion 10"s along with a clarion DPX1000.2 let me tell you about loud.....

He had all 4 in his explorer and it was NOTHING compared to the egg hehehe...

Hatchbacks kick ASS for bass..

Well, i bought my Nx2k in newark nj, my friend (nismoser) bought his classic in north jersey, and he recently purchased a blue nx2k, with a blown motor, and his bro a few days ago picked up a 93 red nx2k in the area. They seem to be placed in jersey as of late. :D

I don't think the Altimas never came with an SR20DE motor. Only 91-93 NX2K, 91-94 Sentra SE-R and G20 (don't know the years). This is the extent of my knowledge so I could be wrong.

Cheers!

Altimas in the US never did, the overseas version the bluebird did.... I think I've heard of people doing the swap though...

aren't they a bit on the heavy side?

Well you can also think about going the RWD rout. You can also get the SR20det swap in an S13 for very cheap (with alot of money left over for upgrades). Our sil-eighty was built for around $10,000. We picked the car up for $600 and started from there.

stupid question time,
isn't a sil-80 a 180sx with a silvia front?
are 240sx's in the states 180's in jdm?
i always understood it that you could get a sr20det, tranny, front fenders and lights and have as close to a silvia from a 240 as possible....please explain.

Yes, the Sil-80 is basically a 180sx (hatchback 240) with the S13 silvia front end on it. We have a Sr20det in it, pushing alittle over 400hp. We've got our own turbo kit on there. It's a HKS T300 turbo, pushing around 23psi on the stock motor. We've got the built motor almost done, and the rollcage will be complete as well. I'll post times and everything as soon as we run it.

LIAR! :p
Where were they a few months ago when I was trying to find one for my boyfriend? All I found was some guy in PA wanting like 5K for his 93 with 160k on it. He was nuts.
