I'm not sure if this post should be here... but here I go
Can sr16VE pistons be installed on a sr20DE, which is running JWT S5 cams ???
I had understood that this piston setup will yield a CR of about 11.6:1
Am I right ot wrong ??? ..... Why ???

I was told that running JWT C3 cams would not hit...and seeing that C3s are 13.36 mm lift at 285 duration, and S5s are 12.8 mm lift at 281, I think you'd be fine.

This should be enough as an answer... but anyone really TRIED IT !!!!

it looks like you'll be fine.
SR20Turbofreak put together a motor similar to that but with JUN cams (.453" lift) and a .040" mill. He has .170" clearance on the intake side and .155" clearance on the exhaust side with a stock headgasket.
Assuming that your head is not milled, Running S5s with .503" lift would give you a clearance of .170" intake and .145" exhaust.
Running C3 cams would still give you ample clearances of .146" in and .121" exhaust.
All that math is for using a stock headgasket.
Ok, now we are talking... facts
Thanks again for all the information :biggthump

NP. All you'd have to worry about with those cams is Valve float, which WILL cause the valves to hit. Make sure you upgrade you're springs and retainers too.

I installed the JWT S5's with HKS valve springs, but using stock retainers.... no problem so far ;)
