: tire sizes
zipstrips 10-27-2006, 08:02 AM ive run a quick search and can't seem to find if i will rub or not..
i want to run a 215/60/15 on my stock b14 wheels. my problem is the b14 is dropped on just springs and i have no clue as to there brand or amount of drop.
will i rub only at full lock, will i clear the rear strut, will i need spacers? thanks!
Flounder 10-28-2006, 04:41 PM Waaay too big! 205/50/15 is the biggest you'd want to go, trust me. Plus, the tire selection in that size is huge.
black_ser95 10-29-2006, 01:23 AM Stock size is 195/55-15, or you can get 205/50-15 or 215/50-15. 205/50/15 is the best out there for our cars on stock rims.
LikeTheMovies 10-29-2006, 02:03 AM i don't remember what i was reading or if i was just dreaming or something haha but i heard someting about 225/15s???? can't remember where i saw this at...but i don't think they'd fit the stockies haha
matt_pound 10-29-2006, 04:09 AM ive got 215/50/15's on the front right now (goin to the track tomarrow)
with the wheel spacers they have plenty of room and you could definatly fit a 225/50 under there but that would look wayyy too tall
205/50/15 is what i would always run on the front
zipstrips 11-03-2006, 01:54 AM i hope you mean 215/60/15 is too tall... the tires i want dont have a 215/50 so i guess im sol and have to get the 205s.. even thoug the 215's are cheaper if that makes any sense! haha...
Driven97 11-07-2006, 03:28 PM Lots of misinformation in this thread.
225/50/15 race tires fit but rub *slightly* at full lock on stock wheels. I've done it, so I know firsthand.
I would bet that 215 street tires would run quite a bit narrower, so I would bet you would have no problems whatsover. That's only 10mm wider than stock on each side, so no worries. Never tried it, but I would bet based on what I have actually done.
There is all sorts of room in the rear of the b14, so no worries in the rear at all.
matt_pound 11-07-2006, 04:26 PM a 215/60would look horrible (too tall)
what tires do you want that don't have a common selection like 215/50 ???
i got the bfg g-force sports for a good price in a 215/50
brian 11-07-2006, 06:28 PM I ran 225-50-15's on my b14 with very little rubbing in the front. These were on Konig Heliums FYI...

Tire producer from Korea, low/mid price segment
VENTUS RS-2 Z212 225/45 ZR15 87W
These would not look too tall but I have not heard anything about the performance.
Driven97 11-08-2006, 12:53 AM The Hankooks are similar to the Falken RT-615s. Several local autocrossers have tested them back to back and perfer the Hankook (205 width tested only, STS class.)
I plan on trying them next year instead of my current 205 615s.
dmp316 11-08-2006, 07:59 AM i ran 205/60/15 on my lowered b14 with no problems, but 205/50/15 is just perfect no rubbing or problems

stock wheel is 6 inches wide
running a 225 I would think could cause the wheel to kinda bubble? no?
since its such a wide tire on skinny rim.
I am planning on getting some 15X7 to handle a 225
Did you notice a big difference in grip verses the a 205 width?
I am going to try those Hankooks in 225/45/15 you said got a good review.
Caughtbycops1 11-12-2006, 10:41 PM all i know is i got 225/50/15, and that shit does not rub wiht tein s-techs, which is like 2" in the front, full turn does not rub, o yea their bfgs
Driven97 11-13-2006, 12:13 AM 205s fit better on the 6" wheels.
zipstrips 11-13-2006, 04:04 PM i just need some good all seasons to handle my driving style and some snow lol, 195's just dont sit well with me for some reason
