: Got my AEM today

I picked up my AEM intake today. Let me say that my first impression was that you DO get what you pay for. It comes with detailed instructions, parts and harware needed to move the battery out of the way, rubber gromets and bolts to hold down the piping to the car. Quality with a high attention to detail. I am gonna replace the hoses, but thats just for cosmetic purposes. And from the looks of it, this intake will fit all low port B14's. The part number is #21-444

My only question is if I should use my Stillen POP with this intake. According to SE-R.net its a good idea to use the POP in combination with the CAI. I don't have continuous acces to a Dyno, so I can't afford to test out every combination. Anyone have any personal experiences with using a POP with a CAI? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. I wont be installing the intake for a few weeks, because I will be going to a Dyno to see exactly what I gained fromt the intake cam. I will be posting those results as soon as I get them.

Also, does anyone know where I can host some pics?

TIA

Well, they do say that using the pop in combo with the cold air works great, and if it works better, then just do it that way.

Martin,
I recently brought this up in the ‘monkey’ forum ----->http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17155. Since you allready have the POP ya might as well install it. But it’s prolly not necessary.
Oh yeah, 'ya get what ya pay for', so true, so true.

Good point Paul, but I was also thinking that the AEM might be set up for optimum power the way it is. HMMM, we'll see. I'm gonna try it the way it came first and see what my BUTT dyno tells me.

Thanks for the offer Stilleto, I'll send them to you as soon as I get the Dybo Charts and the pics of the install.

DOH! I just found the first flaw. Well not really a flaw, but since the intake is for a 94 lowport it does not have the hole for the temp. sensor. No biggie, but just a heads up.

congratulations, nice choice, im sure that you will love it, the biggest bone most people have with it that it cost to much but ive never heard someone being disatisfied with their purchase or saying that they dont like it, i love mine, with just that and a exhaust it propelled me to a 15.0.

HOW YOU DO THAT? Where do you install the POP. I have the AEM CAI and I also have the $tille POP. Do you have enough space where the AEM filter goes to put the POP? Or where exactly the POP is suppose to be installed with the CAI. Any pictures of this setup?

Personally I don't "think" you need to add the POP. What makes a POP a POP is the CNC machined venturi that the KandN is attached to (the thing that looks like a horn). I believe that the AEM filter element has the venturi in the molding of the part of the filter itself. It's also matched for the flow of the piping already IMHO. But hey if you want to put the POP on that's fine too. I don't think that there will be a huge difference. Maybe you should just sell your POP to someone and use the money towards your *next * project. ;)

Thanks. I wanted to be sure about this setup before I sell the POP. I have a friend that already offered $60 for the POP. Thanks!
