Ok..I put my thermostat back in today. The temp guage now reads pegged in the "H". The car is not overheating though!? I can take the radiator cap off and all!? I took an infrared Temp guage and hit the water neck on the back of the engine when it was reading "H". The temp was 185 degrees. The water in the radiator was 145 degrees. WTF?! I find the car runs better too with the thermostat in. Before, the guage would get about halfway up and it would run like crap and stutter a lot. I'm thinking that it wasn't getting up to operating temp or something. I can't remember which Temp sender I have in the water neck. It's either the 2001 or a 91-93 one. It was going all haywire on me too. It would go up and down all crazy when I would accelerate. Does any of this sound like something you have experienced?!
The second thing is that I keep blowing a fuse! Everytime I turn the car off and try to start it again....it blows a fuse. The fuse is "engine control 1" it's under the dash. I have no idea what could be causing this. I put a new fuse in and it starts right up. Then, when I turn the car off it blows the fuse?! WTF?! I'm clueless here. This started after I put the thermostat in and drove it around with the guage all screwy..

do you have a aftermarket temp gauge?

check the temp sensor units/ when i did my swap the temp gauge was acting a little fun until i change the sending unit i dont know if this is your problem or not. why did you change your thermostat out? was it overheating after you did the swap? did you get a thermostat for a 2001 or the year of the motor?

i will be at work on sat give me a call / i also fond my fsm

check the coolant temp. sensor. A jdm sensor reads in metric, not standard. The jdm sensor has a blue plug, US a red. I did a primera swap in my classic and that's one thing I changed. The metric sensor will send the wrong voltage, making the US unit read overheating even though it's not. Check the wires in the harness, if their loose it will cause the gauge to fluctuate when accelerating. Just some suggestions.
