i just picked up a 2000 G20 and trying to decide what would best motor to put in. the VE or DET? I was thinking to go with the GTI-r motor and turbo but what ecu whould i have to use? Now i heard in the 2000 G20's there was some security thing built into the ecu and ignition where if i swaped that ECU out i wount be able to start it. Im new into the nissan stuff so just let me know my different choices. and what kinda money am i looking at?

your deff in the right place if you want to turbo your g.

first off start by searching the turbo faq's section its a stickie in the turbo section of this forum.

then ask your self if your motor in your g20 is in good enough condition to be turboed. i.e compression checks out good etc etc.

That thread talks about one way to get an older ECU to work on newer G20s. For the most part one needs to swap out the 2000+ G20 ECU with an engine swap.
